Took these with an old Leica M5 body and 1950s era Leica lenses. This was an incredible weekend and incredible photographic opportunity.

I forget..is the M5 a rangefinder or an SLR?
What BW film were you using?

Takes me back...35 years ago. I was doing a lot of photograpy with an old Nikormat my dad gave me. We had a darkroom set up in the basement to do B&W. I can still remember the smell of the developer, fixer, etc in the trays. I actually have some prints I made hanging on walls in our house.
I congratulate you on keeping a great tradition alive. Leicas are a work of art themselves and to stay with film vs digital is really cool. I loved your pics. Keep it up!

F'kn Aye!
Nice pics!
The B & W was a good choice and it almost makes them seem vintage.
Did you get some more color photos?
Thanks for posting!

Thanks Pewter, I am glad you liked them. For some reason I absolutely love film and film cameras. My sister and friends like to harass me for sticking with film but I can't see myself switching any time soon. Having too much fun with developing and playing with enlargers to switch. The Leica's are a joy to use. Took me almost two years to work and trade my way up to that one but it was well worth it.

Yep! B17G! Been working on that plane since I was 14 every summer it was around. Feel like I have grown up with it and its crew. That is the plane that made me want to become a pilot.

Great camera...I have owned several Leica cameras over the years, both SLR and rangefinders...I have moved over to digital Canon Mark III and IVs...but still have a Leica R4S body...
HP5 is old school as well, remember developing film in my home darkroom with my Pops...great days of the past...
Thanks for the memories and great shots!

Foley What do you think of the R4S? Always thought it would be interesting to try one but never met anyone who had used the Leica SLRs.
thanks for the pics

What was the name of the B-17? Nine-O-Nine? We have been on Sentimental Journey a couple of times, but never took a flight in one. :(

Yep She's the 909. Great Aircraft. Collings guys have always looked after me every year I have volunteered. No crew I would rather work with anywhere. I have been very blessed to have gone flying in it as much as I have ~7 times LOL

I am starting like you less and less.  j/k
The Collings Foundation seems to be a great organization keeping this alive for future generations..

I have used the R3 through the R8s before I went digital. Loved the R4S...had some good class for my systems with a 28mm, 90mm, 135mm, 180mm and a 280mmF2.8....used it mostly for sports and that is what ultimately made me jump from film to digital...take a Leica with Fuji Velvia 50 ISO slide film or the ole trusted Kodachrome 64...some beautiful shots!

Foley, the slide film and a Leica are amazing. Been experimenting with Velvia 50 and 100. Absolutely love it. Sadly only got to shoot one roll of Kodachrome 64 before they stopped processing it. Amazing Film.
Superstreet, I probably shouldn't mention the flights in the B24 then?

Sadly no, every time I have flown in the B24 I did not have a camera on me and it was a random "Hey Cody get on there is a free seat" kind of deal.

Not a lot of things I am jealous of...
Flying B-17s (and other vintage aircraft) is one of the things on the short list.
