Here in texas, and I imagine in most places, I understand that when selling a product, the sales tax is based on the jurisdiction of where the sale takes place. If you are selling a service, the sales tax is based on the jurisdiction of where the service is being utilized.

Question is, is there some kind of plug in or app that can be utilized with a website shopping cart to get the right sales tax based on the zipcode when selling a service?

:waiting:

In Texas you are required to pay sales tax on all items purchased online. You're "required" to put the amount on your tax return every year. If you own a business, the auditor will nail your ass for not paying tax on online purchases.

got that part, but the sales tax is based on different locations if it is a product or a service. i believe.

You only pay sales tax if the vendor sells from your home state,in other words you live in Texas if you buy from a vendor in Ga. there is no sales tax.

If you live in Texas, you have to pay sales tax on all purchases online. We just went through an audit here, and that is what the tax guy told us.

it's a line item on the state tax forms in many states.

Colorado has a special internet purchase 'use' tax which we are required to collect and remit to the state.

many states do not tax 'services'

Same here.
You are expected to self-report on tax return. :yesnod:
