After awhile, even diehards go against Corporate Greed :yesnod:

Shouldn't those bills go to the US Military? :confused5:

that's a pretty bad PR move on Delta's part. Charge more for others before you pick at the military.

nevermind. read the article.

Obviously a policy is in place between the airline and the armed services that permits soldiers returning from war to bring back all of their gear without cost. What's likely is that an uninformed agent at the connecting airport didn't know about the rule and charged the group. Either way, Delta should fix the error and refund the fees.

What I don't understand is why nobody is asking the question why we're contracting this stuff out. We do have an Air Force and last I checked, they had a boatload of transport planes. Isn't that kind of what those planes were built for?

:iagree:

I hate the airlines even more than I hate incontinent clowns, but it was an individual mistake, not a corporate policy.

Because in my military traveling experiences (and I have plenty) 99.9% of the time it is somewhere between 1 and 5 people traveling at a time.

Way cheaper to fly commercial. Not too hard to do the math on that one.

Originally it said that armed forces members can bring 3 bags. THEN after they caught all this shit, they amended it to 4 bags.

As long as I can remember we have had a limit on what we could carry for free on military orders (usually it is both a max weight and a max bag limit).

It is pretty close to impossible to pack as much gear/uniforms/etc as you need if you are going for an extended time. Most people I know either work out ways to have things shipped to them, try to devide it up so that if you have multiple people you maximize it among them, or a lot of times use those who are going for a short period and have less baggage as mules.

With that said, I do understand the airlines having limits and why it would be necessary, even for the military.

That's outrageous! They should have billed Uncle Sam or the soldiers should be getting reimbursed. One or the other.

no doubt, but honestly, what can be done when people are too fat for the seats, fuel is expensive, and crazy terrorists want to blow up planes?

Obviously the solution to this travesty is a more socialistic approach, rather than a private company charging what they want to.

Especially when that private company already allowed the soldiers to carry three bags instead of one and allowed each bag to be up to 70 lbs. instead of just 50...

Seems to me like Delta already had a pretty favorable policy...

removal of political correctness will solve 2 of the 3...

producing domestic fuels will solve the 3rd.

Lars, ain't you out getting shit faced on margaritas?

bad news...just got in. party was awesome...food & drink was excellent...

party was cut short...the hosts' got a call a little while ago, their 18 y/o son was in a boating accident while wake-boarding down in Tampa.

everyone at the party cleaned up, while our friends got their stuff together and they are currently on the road down to Tampa.

sounds bad, the boy may lose his eye, he's in trauma surgery as we speak.

Boy is an excellent young man, just grad from HS and is going to college in the fall.

I'm in tears. and praying for the best possible outcome. :sadangel:
