Suspect takes stolen Humvee on joyride

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Limestone County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man suspected of stealing a military Humvee Wednesday morning.
Sheriff's deputies said the vehicle was stolen from the National Guard Armory in Cullman. The Humvee was found abandoned near the Ardmore Welcome Center after apparently breaking down at about 2:30 a.m.
When a deputy approached to offer assistance, 32-year-old David Eugene Stewart, Jr. of Clanton ran away from the scene.
After a foot chase, Stewart was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. He's being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
The sheriff's department continues to investigate.
