Verizon FINALLY came up with a way for me to get great reception with my cellphones at home.

Samsung Network Extender SCS-2U01

Before this, I had 0-1 bars at home and Verizon was useless to me, keeping me locked to a land line.

Now, I can finally dump my landlines and save about $60/month. This device connects to my broadband router and gives me 4 bars at the house. I can finally use cellular 100%.

$249 and worth every penny if you have bad cell reception at home.

I"m confused...those have been around for a while now. We looked at putting them in at our plant two or three years ago.

They are new to me. I wish I knew about them 2-3 years ago. I would have saved $60/mo. for that period of time. :willy:

 Well why didn't you just ask me before? :D

We ended up not using them because they have limited range. Great for a house...terrible for a warehouse!

I noticed the range issue quickly. Walking around the house, I can see the bars drop, but it works for me. 4 bars in the office, which is important. No less than 2 bars anywhere else in the house (3,000 sf). WAY better than 0 bars. :hurray:

AT&T gave them to their customers that bitched about their home reception. :yesnod: :leaving:

No worries. AT&T's coverage sucks everywhere else. I love Verizon's coverage, it's just always sucked at my house.

Yeah, pretty old actually.

I set up my mother in law with a Sprint box maybe just shy of 2 years ago?

They bought the house not realizing none of their cell phones could get coverage.

I believe they sell an external and internal antennas to increase the range of those units. :yesnod:

Did you put it up?

I did in the beginning to get the GPS to activate. Once activated, I was able to bring it back inside and locate it near the top of a window in my office.

I've been looking into getting one of those to use at my place. So even with the indoor antenna in place how far can you go and loose a signal?

My house is 1 story, 3,000 SF. The external antenna is only for GPS. I can go anywhere in the house and get nearly 2 bars with a max of 4 bars in the office. It was a good investment. We will be dropping our land lines on Monday. :yesnod:

Prior to this, we almost always had to go outside of the house to hold a conversation with someone while on the cellphone. :willy:

I guess I'm confused..... I have a regular old netgear wireless router in my house and our cell phones hit it and we make calls thru it. My carrier is T-mobile.

Verizon works great in big cities and along major highways. It sucks in rural areas. My old office is about 8 miles out of town, with AT&T I had 2-3 bars all the time. I switched to Verizon and I have no bars in my office, if I want to make a call I have to go outside and maybe I'll get 1/2 of a bar.
Well the only good thing is that I am moving in to the town office tomorrow and will have cell coverage again.

I have a wireless modem that works similar to cell phone signals for my internet.

It does have a small threaded part on the back for an antenna, I tried a small antenna and it did not seem to help.

I wonder if this would help me get a better signal?

Right now my signal is so bad that it wont even work in the house, not even at the very top of the roof inside.

I have it out in the front yard and have found about a 4 foot circle where I can get signal, sometimes when I loose signal I just move it a foot or so over and get signal again.

Sometimes it takes hours to get a signal again...

This SUX!

I've installed well over a dozen systems for small businesses.

Go here:Cell Phone Coverage Maps - AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon - CellReception.com (http://www.cellreception.com/)

Find your closest carrier tower.

Install this:

Add a Yagi and point it to the tower.

that's of course if you don't have VZW. The extender should work

Also VZW customers can dial *228 Option 2 to fix your roaming. Sometimes older phones get stuck on a different tower. This also force connects you to the closest one.

OR

VZW Customers Dialing *22890 updates your phones PRL, Preferred Roaming List. It makes sure your phone knows where the newest towers are.
