Today's events. Pulled the motor and trans out of the Camaro which I started the other day. Unbolted the auto, and put on a clutch and bolted on the bellhousing and 4 speed. As stated the other day, the numbers motor for the Vette is pickled. Got it all in the Corvette, got the 383 off the stand, bolted on new clutch, etc. with the new Autogear M22 and stuck it in the Camaro. Both cars are now back in the Garage. I can't thank my friend Herb enough for helping me today. We put in a full day!!:cheers:

As big as you boys are why even use an engine hoist? :D

Did you install the vette motor from the side? My hoist isn't even close to clearing the nose.

Yes, front wheels off the Vette, on jackstands (front only) and from the side. Went in slick as a ribbon.

That's true hot rodding just like back in the day. :yesnod:
What's that nasty looking thing with a hole torn in it in the next to last pix? Looks like a big hole in the floor. :lol:

No 302 here. It's not a true Z anyway. I just like the way the emblems look. It does however have, a brand new roller cammed, Brodix heads wearing, all forged and balanced 383 in it backed up by an Autogear M22. Out back is a 12 bolt 4:10 gears with Moser axles and an Eaton posi. Oh, and running the SS 5 leaf springs.
Should have had those done while I lived down there. :toetap:

Sorry man. I need to get to the garage and clean up the hole for the shifter. I just roughed it in yesterday so we could get it all in. I marked the opening at center of neutral on the shifter and scribed the cutout on the inside of the bezel for the boot. Now for some grinding. I also need to put in all my linkage for the clutch and hang the pedals. I see no reason that I can't have it running by this weekend. Now if I can stay out of sight of local law enforcement!!:cheers:

I was just going to ask why the Z emblems on a obviously non-Z/28 car.

That's how I have always done mine.
Much easier than renting a giant hoist.

Tonight's progress. Cleaned up the opening for the shifter to my scribed line. Installed shifter arm, and test fit for shifter boot/base and shifter tunnel. Everything lines up perfect, and the shifter clears everything with room to spare.

[QUOTE=C5Nate Poser huh?[/QUOTE]
You got it buddy!!!:D I actually could pass it off as a true SS car since it is X11 coded and there were a lot of small block SS cars that had that code. X11 is not a definitive code like X33 or X77 in the Z cars, but a trim code package. However, I really don't care about all of that. It's all personal taste and I damn sure don't baby it like a 60 or 70k original Z.
