There is a story that goes with that song. When I was about 12 I saw the original artist perform it live. I had never seen anyone play blues before. The original is quite different. It's more of a dark, New Orleans acoustic Delta blues song. I followed the artist most of my developmental years. Learning most if his songs. Since he was from my home town, we got to know each other.

Then like 30 years ago he moved to New Orleans and started touring the world. He's also a blues historian. He once told me to sing in my own voice - don't try to emulate anyone. Great advice that allowed me to develop my own sound.

I've kept in touch over the years and we have recorded together (he helped do the Enzoology theme). His work still amazes me but most amazing is his genuine kindness and generosity.

The band in the video never rehearsed anything. We would just jump into a song and wring it out. This song entered our set list many years before this recording and the arrangement just sort of happened. It was one of our most popular tunes.

I would have thought he would have hated how we did the tune - sort of injecting Neville Brothers into it but when I played a cut for him he actually liked it!
