Just got through doing a little work in the backyard. Laying down some concrete paving stones in the backyard and needed to use my angle grinder to cut a notch out of it. Buddy comes by and lends his "expert" knowledge on the subject. Luckily the grinder was loud enough I didn't hear 99% of it.
Afterwards I did as always, cleaned everything up, used my compressor to blow all the dust off the grinder and generally just made sure everything was in as good of shape as possible before I placed it back in the tool box. "Tim The Tool Guy" just couldn't understand why I am so picky about my tools. That got me wondering, am I being obsessive about my tools or is he just a moron?

Perhaps both? :D

Actually concrete dust can/will turn to concrete over time, so it's best to clean it as best you can. Else it just leaves a mess in the toolbox too.

He's being a moron.

Granted, my knifeshop is a mess, but my tools are maintained well.......all the way until they blow up.

:iagree: I try to keep all my tools as clean and dry as possible until I need them again.

A good mechanic, a good chef, whatever, keeps his tools clean, sharp, and ready to work! It just makes sense, you treat them good, and they work and last like they should.

He's a moron.

Just today I was using my cordless drill after I got done priming some trim with oil-based primer. I noticed the handle had some primer on it from my hand. I stopped everything and cleaned the handle before it dried. I keep my tools as clean as possible.
