When a soldier comes home, he finds it hard....

...to listen to his son whine about being bored.

....to keep a straight face when people complain about potholes.

...to be tolerant of people who complain about the hassle of getting ready for work.

...to be understanding when a co-worker complains about a bad night's sleep

..to be silent when people pray to God for a new car.

http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/9580/006wq9.jpg
...to control his panic when his wife tells him he needs to drive slower.

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/6833/007rr4.jpg
..to be compassionate when a businessman expresses a fear of flying.

http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/67/008ck9.jpg
...to keep from laughing when anxious parents say they're afraid to send their kids off to summer camp.

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3815/009jl2.jpg
...to keep from ridiculing someone who complains about hot weather.

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/184/010xu9.jpg
...to control his frustration when a colleague gripes about his coffee being cold.

http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/8797/011gk7.jpg
... to remain calm when his daughter complains about having to walk the dog.

http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/9784/012cr8.jpg
...to be civil to people who complain about their jobs.

http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/7070/013cl9.jpg
...to just walk away when someone says they only get two weeks of vacation a year.

...to be forgiving when someone says how hard it is to have a new baby in the house.

The only thing harder than being a Soldier..

Old but it still rings true. I'll be proud to take a break from the Shriner's fund raising efforts today to go with the USO group who sees off the leaving units (one leaving today which shall remain un-named) and also welcomes the incoming units back home here at Ft. Hood.

Also, soldiers returning/leaving from R&R come through Atlanta first and then DFW (revers order going back from R&R). Most have a lay over of a few hours and I guarantee they are hungry. They will look for a restaurant, Mickey D's, etc... It always makes me proud to see somebody offer up the empty seats at their table/tables for these soldiers knowing damn well how great it feels since I've been on the receiving end of that gratitude a time or two. It's a great start to R&R, and a great reminder that we as Americans support them when they are on their way back to the sand box. :flag:

I always support the soldiers, even if I don't support the war...they are not the ones who said "hey, lets go to war" they would rather be home with their families, but they are the ones over there risking their lives.
