So Proud of My Baby! She Really Came up This Year!!

Theresa and I are so proud of our daughter! She maintained a 4.0 GPA this semester and was honored with several outstanding academic achievement and leadership awards.

Peep the press release that'll run in our local newspaper next week. As parents, there's no greater reward than the satisfaction that comes from knowing your kids are heading down the right path and seeing them do well as a result of it.

We're so happy!! :dance:


Shipp Honored by President Obama for Academic Achievement

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Chynna Michelle Shipp was among 110 students recognized by President Barack Obama for outstanding academic achievement May 24 at John L. Ramsey Middle School.

Shipp, a sixth-grader at the school, received the President's Award for Educational Excellence for earning a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) her first semester. The award recognizes leaders who have transitioned well from elementary to middle school.

147 students, including Shipp, received the United States National Leadership Merit Award for earning a 3.0 GPA their first semester.

93 students, including Shipp, received the Academic Letter "R” Award given to students who maintained an A+ 3.5 GPA average for five grading periods.

68 students, including Shipp, made the school’s honor roll this year. Six students, including Shipp, had a 4.0 GPA.

Shipp is the daughter of Theresa and Julian Shipp, who is a Hodgenville native and former interim editor of The LaRue County Herald News and reporter for The News-Enterprise.

She is the granddaughter of Joan and Johnny Lee Shipp of Hodgenville.
