I always figured you were just using the Japanese pronunciation.

Nope... was known as "Critter" beginning in high school. The name followed me through college and into the DJ biz. Long story short, I was working as an intern on the radio for a disgusting event (that ended up getting me picked up by Godsmack in their tour bus for the show) and the DJ I worked with said his name for the day was "Vomitus Maximus." Staying with the Roman theme, I opted to ask for the name "Critterus" on air. Fatass Mr. Scott Pettybone (the guy who started airing Creed f in P-cola) ran in weezing from the exercise throwing a fit about me asking to be called "Clitorus" live on air. A replay of the tape in slow motion exonerated me, but we still got lots of angry phone calls from some women and First Baptis Church of Jacksonville (It's ****ing huge... 11 square blocks of down town). Needless to say, our ratings shot up and we were "in the book" for ratings measurement at the time.
