Not really a fad at this point. I think I’ve seen every model of every car/truck with an OEM trim that includes black wheels.

I am out of the loop, so are they good prices?

The black wheels originally were for lazy people hiding the brake dust, so they said chrome/polished wheels were bad. Eventually back will fade out and chrome/polished will come back.

I think black wheels are here to stay. Having options is great. Most cars/trucks offer both chrome/polish and black. And some black is flat/matte and some are gloss.
I like both chrome/polish and black.
Both look great if done right. IMO

I think it depends on the paint color and overall style. The red vette probably looks better with chrome/polish. That battleship gray looks great with the black.
And looks great on a white pickup with black out trim. IMO :D

IMO that was part of the trend at 1st, not brake dust.

Had my 2nd set of BBS wheels painted/embossed black (electro painted vs Powder as heat bad for forged aluminum) to complete the look :coolest:

If you're a Costco member, you get an additional $3,000 off, which gives you an 11.5% discount. Not a horrible price.

A few weeks ago I got to drive a C8 and it was awesome. Granted I just got to put around but the interior is to die for and the forward visibility was completely unobstructed.

Saturday I got drive a C6 Z06 and it was awesomer. Yea the interior wasn't as great but 505 horsepower coupled with the manual transmission gave the car that muscle car/sports car feel that I think a Corvette was born and bred to have. The trip to 120 mph is quite exhilarating. Or so I've been told. And at 120 the party has yet to even begin.

Car for car I'll take the C6 Z06 over the C8.

I like the look of the C8. The mid-engine sets the style of the body apart from front- or rear-engine cars.

Most the powertrain is finally complete.
Gonna yank the flex fuel and install an alkyl control kit.
Still have the widebody and big break kit sitting in boxes I'll change out once I decide on wheels/tires. Definitely going black on the new wheels.
Then vinyl wrap, when time permits.

Looks like the perfect interior for a Gastroenterologist that never wants to leave work. Makes sense as the C8 base model rear looks like a fat middle aged man's back end.

Certainly it does and unfortunately it's all ass. However, because of my age what I expect out of a Corvette is changing. A C8 could be perfect transportation from central Kentucky to the gulf coast. A white C8 convertible with a red interior would do nicely. However, however, I still prefer a C6 Z or a C7 Z51 convertible, all things considered.

I never cared much for the C7s. :island14:

I met a guy (and wife) last year who comes in the diner where I eat, who had a brand new red C8. He's mid- late-70s and uses a cane, doesn't look in too good a shape. Has been a Vette guy all his life. Not from around here too close.

They went to Florida in the fall, he said he'd see me this spring. Haven't seen them yet, but I'm sure he'll be back assuming all is well with them.

Finally got to drive my daughter's 2024. Z51 equipped. What a car! Even in Sport mode the ride wasn't harsh, very controlled, and what a beast. I can't imagine what a Z06 or ZR1 would be like. It was different having all the exhaust noise behind you though.

While I can’t deny the C8 is a great car, I am perfectly happy with my 2016 M7 with Z51 package. I had a slush box in my previous Vette (99) and the manual transmission makes driving more fun

Since 1986 my DD was a man pedal, first was a beater hand-me-down accord which I abandoned with no clutch--rev shifting is for ballers.

I think I will pass on a C8Z, it is a great car, but I cannot commit to an auto.

IMO, you drive for fun, fun means being engaged with both car and road, you can engage more when shifting with a pedal.

I won't ever own a C8. It's just not a Corvette anymore. I wish they would've called it something else and kept the F/R, manual, layout.

When I see them in town, I just think, meh. The ZO6 and ZR1 are okay to talk about because they have good numbers, but they could've had the same in the C5/6/7 platforms, but they didn't.:slap:

I will likely never own another corvette again unless I came into some real easy money and lots of it. There are just too many things I can spend 50-100 grand on in my life right now.
