Either in the real or metaphorical sense. Let's hear some stories.

I've ridden mules up to about 13,000 feet on Kendall Mountain near Silverton, CO elk hunting.... Also hiked up 3,000-4,000 feet from 10,000 foot base camp to stalk elk, on foot. Some inclines were so radical I was crawling instead of hiking...heard a mountain lion roar at one point - blood curdling.

The oxygen deprivation for a Florida flatlander resulted in headaches, dizziness and disorientation until I got acclimatized. Go 25-35 yards, stop, gasp for air, then do it over again. A whole different level of dry, pervasive cold too...heated gloves socks, wool layers - still colder'n hell.

Got this bad boy at 280 yards, uphill at 12,800 feet in dawn light with a rifle I'd never shot before and my BIL with me had to stop talking that 'city boy' bullshit.

Rugged, isolated back country 20 years ago, now cabins are popping up on old mining claims and yuppies in yoga pants hike around talking on their phones and scaring wildlife - and jerk offs on ATVs blasting around - a damned shame..

Hiked Fuji during my USN days-had the walking stick with all the way stations as well. It was lost during my move to the East Coast.

I did the back side of half dome in the 90's (up the ladder to the top), it was an 18 mile hike and one very cool experience.

Yeah, climbed one, not Everest or anything, but I did tackle a proper 3-day hike up in the Drakensberg. Feet blistered, out of breath, and completely convinced I wouldn’t make it halfway. But I did. And standing at the top, soaked in sweat and silence, something just clicked. Like, “Okay. If I can do this, I can probably handle a lot more than I thought.”

I grew up in Colorado surrounded by majestic mountains. Never once did I climb one that didn't have a paved path. :)

I climbed Stone Mountain, up one day, rested at top, came down the next day on the cable car.
Quite a feat,,,

Used to backpack through the Presidential Range in New Hampshire back in the day. Longest climb was Mt. Washington, Tuckerman Ravine Trail, from trailhead to summit is a bit over 4000' in less than 4 miles.

Most difficult climb was the Cabin Trail from the Linville Gorge Trail to the trailhead. That involves several short sections that are near vertical. Not easy in my 50's, carrying a 25# pack.

Did you ever ski Tuckermans? My buds & I from North Conway would do it several times each spring.

Many over the years, backpacking. Never technical with crampons or climbing gear. But some elevations in the 11-12,000 foot range. The Sierras, Rockies, Tetons, Cascades, etc.

I climbed an iceberg once. Got chased by a polar bear and had to beat off (no kink shaming in VBOT) the bear with a seal I found laying around.

In June of every year, a Millet Days celebration takes place, which includes a parade, trade show, softball tournament, fireworks, and a soccer tournament. The Dog Sleds go in the garage and the cars come out

Look at it this way, a car in Millet can be 25 years old with only 5k miles on it.

I also did this - it was a blast. Slept near the top - got up super early so we could be at the summit for sunrise which is part of the Japanese pilgrimage.

I still have my "Fuji Stick"

Small mountain, I climbed a live volcano in Japan's northern island of Hokkaido. Strong smell of sulphur, and some steam rising also. Locals said it was safe to do so as eruptions were almost extinct.

Mt Whitney from the back and most high picks around Lake Tahoe. Backpacked a good portion of the John Muir Trail which had some pretty high passes.
