According to NextDoor, apparently if someone "decorates" your house with toilet paper it means that your kid(s) are popular in school.

I guess if they throw rocks through your windows your kid will homecoming king/queen? Maybe a Molotov cocktail if your kid will be valedictorian?

So get this, back in November/December there was droan mania going on here. So all the NYC news stations were reporting a drone crash at a local LOWES. Helicopters flying all over. So it was all over Nextdoor, people asking what was going on, any photos etc. So I used AI to create a bogus photo and posted it. Some people thought it was real then found out later how dumb they were and reported me for misinformation because they got scared. My post was taken down. Oh miss-delivered packages is right up there on next-door with missing outdoor cats.

Back to RING. We have a lot of power outages here, thank god i put the gnerarce stand by in over 12 years ago, got 600 hours on it, that included the weekly exercise ~12 min.

So 10 days we had 4 outages, and it was due to substation equipment failure. The last one was from 7:30 last night, restored 2:30 AM.

So to the point every time the power goes out people on RING have to make a post, what happened, when will the power come back, bla, bal, bla.

I am like listen you cumtwat, from the time it took you to post this on RING you could have reported the outage online and they will text you updated, restoration ETA, ect. Can also get the information from the online outage map, just give it about 20 mins to update.

So how do i know it was substation issues.
1) no storms, 2) the outage map showed that the whole substation footprint was out.

I sent a scathing online complaint to the NJ BPU a few days ago outlining the outages and details and say for them to to get JCP&L (a firstenergy company) to fix their ****ing equipment.

So their yadkin engineer left me a voicemail saying i was right, they were equipment failures and he is going to do an analysis and make a report and get back to me.

Let see what happens.

The last time I did this telling them they had too many homes on one transformer. The old one got replaced, and me and my two neighbors got our own transformer. Since then there have been no outages due to the transformer.

Issue was me and my two neighbors homes were here in the late 1960s, it was more rural. the street did not even continue past my home.

In the 80s and 90s they built new larger homes, but never added a new transformer.

Hello everyone, The outdoor faucet need to be replaced. Any recommendations?
Are there any owners of a 2025 Hyundai Palisade Caligraphy in the neighborhood? I have had mine about five months and the engine has developed a chattering noise which started at 2700 miles. The noise comes and goes. Some times its loud and sometimes the car runs quiet. When I took it into the dealership they listened to it and said it sounded like all the other Palisades they on the lot! My car did not sound like this when I drove it off the lot and now it sounds terrible. I know there is something wrong with it as this can't be the way this vehicle is supposed to sound!!! Is your car having similar symptoms as mine?

Jose showed up on time and does great work

Has anyone had positive experience with a canine genetic testing outfit? Results for my rescue came back with 2 long haired breeds being 60% of the dog’s genetics and she has short hair. Are they all a sham?

Over 90% of the questions people could just find on their own with a quick search.

The current viral thread is about the local SSA office. Boomer Karen needed a form, so she goes without an appointment. Security guy said she needed one, so told her to go the the kiosk and make one. So she does that and sits and waits in an empty office. Gets her form and the security guy tells her to make an appote next time because they won't be so nice. SO she has to post about it.

In the time it took the Karen to post this she could have went to the SSA web site and downloaded her form. Oh, huge banner on the web site, says you need an appointm, been that was since January.

The premise is good but never works out like that. It's supposed to be for local neighbors to help each other. Maybe 10% is that. 50% is unsupported spam: cleaning ladys, landscapers, handymen, etc, all looking for clients. 15% is lost outdoor cats, 10% lost dogs, 10% so you can sell/by junk locally, like craigslist, but more local. Then 5% people with their hand out. They do a good job shutting down the go fund me that people set up for themselves, or people looking for money. They leave the threads up people asking for food.

Don't GAF how, I'd rather know why. Not everyone has computer access to make an online appointment. While they're busy explaining that perhaps they should also explain why there's the appearance of a local public office if it isn't willing to act like one. Sounds like a prime target for a DOGE investigation.

My kid spent months trying to contact them to make an appointment locally. He's been made unable to work by a motor vehicle accident and needs to get his bills paid. There's no time for stupid games like this. I told him to just walk in and present himself, he said the doors are locked and the place is empty.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/inside-one-overwhelmed-social-security-office-it-feels-like-were-being-set-up-to-fail-says-a-veteran-staffer-8cdb8fc9?mod=home_lead

How is the new appointment-only system working out?
“They’re trying to get everybody to make an appointment, but of course, not everybody knows that or wants to do that,” the employee said. The good news at the office where this person works is that it is still taking walk-ins and still has next-day appointments available. But the bad news is volumes are so high that the workers aren’t able to sit with each person for as long as may be needed.

“These are meant to be 10-minute appointments, and they are literally scheduled 10 minutes apart,” the staffer said. “So if somebody wants to discuss how benefits are calculated or something like that, we don’t really have the time.” The alternative the insider suggested is to write an inquiry and submit it, and a person might “eventually” get a response.

These days, that’s hardly enough. “Since all this has happened, in all honesty, people have been coming in more than ever, calling in more than ever, because they’re just freaked out that their benefits are going to stop or change at any point,” the employee said. “So many people rely on their monthly disability or retirement benefit that if they go without it, they will not be able to eat.”

I might argue the percentages a bit, but not the content - its absolutely spot on...

Maybe add the bleeding hearts.

We had a young, very mobile guy start living under the turnpike bridge, first some cardboard, then a tent, soon a bicycle and Tupperware bins and the NextDoor jerks were almost giddy having our very own homeless person.

"Oh I gave Andrew bottles of water today", "Andrew needed twenty bucks", "Dropped off a Hardee's biscuit to the poor homeless guy"

I called them on it and got jacked up. I lived in DC and this is how whole encampments start. One guy finds out there are locals willing to give handouts, then the next guy shows up, then a family, etc..

This happened in Alexandria when I lived there and police finally cleared about 30 homeless people out from under a large bridge - they found drugs, condoms, and, nasty diseased people - many belligerent and 'edgy'.

And the same yokels that supported them were shocked..total dumb asses.

The new viral thread today on Next-door is the Fox Hunt that happened over the weekend.

Someone posted about seeing a pack of 20 dogs going down the street.

Neighbor says that is the Fox Hunt

Another neighbor is like oh no, they did not kill the fox, did they.

Then neighbor then says, no, someone goes out early in the morning and drags a sent through the fields, woods etc, and then the dogs just track it along with the ridders, no fox is harmed.

So the next 10 post are from bleeding hearts about it being cruel to the fox and scaring all the other wildlife. They never bother to read the other post before replying.

Then an old-timer woman chimes in about how she has seen it for the past 50 years, and participated when she was younger. She said it quite the event with a lot of tradition. The dogs are well trained, the riders very skilled, they have to dress up, rules and tradition to follow. Great to get out on horseback and ride in nature, etc...

Then the next 10 post are again from bleeding hearts about it being cruel to the fox and scaring all the other wildlife.

:nono: I'm getting fitted for a new codpiece because my current one is a skosh too tight. It's because of the skosh :yesnod:

A 10 minute SS office appointment ?

Not in my case; my wife and I took about an hour for the two of us and two supervisors had to be called in. Both Federal retirees but with outside careers, so the WEP (Windfall Elimination Provision) and GPO (Government Pension Offset) applied to us both. The SS office guys actually took the time to read the regs and do a fairly close estimate of our benefits.

That was followed up by an SS guy from Atlanta calling me up assuring me that he was my point of contact and describing how things would proceed until benefits were regularly flowing.

Admittedly 8 years ago, but I was impressed as hell with how I (we) got handled.. Ironically the WEP and GPO were eliminated last fall..

Those yokels may or may not show up, f*ck up your sh!t, aren't licensed, insured, bonded, etc. They want you to Zelle them money because they know you can't claw it back.

Many neighbors got corn-holed by guys like this on painting, pressure-washing, gutter clean outs, etc.. And you can't trust the third party reviews either, folks may lie to try to get some money back from the thieves or are friends/relatives.

I like that he claims to be a college student yet doesn't know basic punctuation, or to write clearly.
