Except taxpayers are buying that 'junk' in the case of welfare....if you don't know somebody in the food industry you have no inkling of the abuse of EBT, SNAP, WIC, etc..

A favorite ploy is to buy items uncooked (since cooked food isn't allowed on EBT) like crab legs, pay for them with EBT then waltz over to the deli and have them cooked anyway.

Then there are the "Johnnies"...some EBT recipient wanders the food aisles with a 'client' filling the basket with stuff THEY want....then checkout with EBT and the "Johnnie" buys the groceries for 50 cents on the dollar - a win/win. Except for the taxpayer.

That's just two scams a grocery store exec buddy told me about.

Here's the thing.....if the taxpayers are paying for your food, they're also paying for your medical care, so the taxpayers have a fiscal interest in wanting those on welfare to be healthy, so they don't rack up big medical bills.

I lived among the welfare class for ten years.

If they can't afford to feed themselves we should send them cheese ,peanut butter and other stored goods.

Then supplement the rest with food coupons only good for certain items.
