View Full Version : Threw my back out yesterday
Was at work and knelt down next to some guys trailer and my back went BOOM! I was totally stuck on the ground laughing. The laughing made it hurt worse but I couldn't stop because it seemed so stupid and I felt like a helpless little old man. I wasn't even doing anything besides kneeling which I do all day. It happened at work so I had to go to the occupational health center and then go get drug tested and fill out all kinds of forms when I really just wanted to go lay down.
So now I am off work until Monday and am stuck on the couch. I didn't even go christmas shopping yet so I am in trouble there. Thank god I have the wife to take care of me, she is good like that.

Sorry to hear it, that really sucks. If you can swing it, schedule some time with a chiropractor - they are angels in disguise at times like this, trust me!

I'd skip the chiro and go get some good release massage. I go to Fuller School of Massage Therapy over here in Va Beach off of Rosemont Rd. They're prices are reasonable and they can do trigger release massage to work the muscles in your back that have spasmed.
I went for a new PR deadlift at the gym the tother night... pulled 365, but at the expense of straining a deep back muscle called the quadratus lumborum. Some proper massage and I'm back to normal.
I "threw out" my back a couple of years ago bending over a Corvette helping a buddy put a new hood on his C6... muscle pulled. Went to a chiro and he tried to tell me I needed "adjustments" 3x a week for a month at $20 co-pay a pop... in reality I had a pulled muscle and needed therapy and massage.

Good point. I didn't have a pulled muscle, so I guess the chiro is what I needed. I wasn't sure of the extent he "threw out" his back. Could very well be a muscle I guess.

Good luck. The only time I've ever had back trouble was when I was leaning over to pick up a tee - on the first tee. I finished the round but couldn't get out of the car after I drove home.
BTW: What kind of job do you have on your knees all day???

You had my full attention right up to that point.

Well... trigger point release massage is an actual technique that will help you. Just be sure to ask for the happy ending.
man that's rough - a terrible feeling. Talk about perfect timing too with the holidays and the chaos of family. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
