Now she can be home all day to pamper me instead of waiting for her to come home from work.
My wife was a teacher, I said she no longer had class and has lost her principles.
Looks like you're just going to have to "pull a Biden" here. :Jeff '79:

How about, "I remember Mrs. Rickles starting this job 35 years ago, and I haven't known her to look for work since"....always gets a laugh.
And end with, "Mrs. Rickles is a great nurse but she always wonders why she has a thermometer behind her ear, and its because some asshole got her pencil".
Or, "The Rickles family has a proud tradition of service in the medical industry and my wife has been an excellent nurse for years and I am an amateur gynecologist".
I'll be here all week...
====================================
But seriously, anyone with a long term career has had what I call "home runs". Highlights during their work that just made them feel like they'd really done some good and made a difference. Maybe she saved someone who was mis-diagnosed, or, did something special for a patient that nobody else even though of or some charitable act that she told you about.
Best if you can surprise her in the speech with these incidents that she may have told you about a while back instead of just asking her about them now.
This makes it personal, poignant and you might just get 'lucky' the night after the speech.

Rickles,
Actually I feel for you, planning this can be a bit of a stressful pain in the ass. I just spent a month planning my wifes birthday. It didn't get better for me until it went off good and was over.

Yeah f*ckin' AI developed speech, great way to celebrate a lifetime of achievement and sacrifice with some larcenous bit of verbal Pablum. Maybe that night you'll find a blow up doll in bed with you instead of a warm, loving life partner.
If I were her I would rather you stumbled through some heartfelt speech that YOU wrote with a less industrial, trite tone and is a testament to how proud and happy you are for her....
The best, most memorable wedding speech I ever heard was by a bride's father that he wrote himself, an introvert and a man of few words his whole life.
He gave a halting, emotional delivery, and the grammar and structure were a bit screwed up - not a dry eye in the house.
Worry less about embarrassing yourself and more about stating what YOU really feel instead of what some programmer thinks you should say.

Rickles,
Actually I feel for you, planning this can be a bit of a stressful pain in the ass. I just spent a month planning my wifes birthday. It didn't get better for me until it went off good and was over.
So, I threw a hell of shindig for Mrs. Rickles 60th Birthday! I rented the Mercer Museum for the evening, hired a band and had it catered by one of the best in our area. Spared no expense and we had just under 120 guests attend. I had to speak before the group, I wasn't a bit intimidated and boy did my speech go over well! I really did enjoy controlling the crowd. Gotta give some credit to my daughter for helping with many details. I loved doing it.

See the reply above. I somewhat agree but these suggestions are a great start. Thing is they aren't, "from my heart" and don't really sound like me. I will use these as a basis to the speech but add in my thoughts. There's a scene in the movie The Wedding Crashers, where Owen Wilson gives the advice to a sister giving a toast to speak from the heart. It's true, it makes it very easy to speak before a crowd, knowing the subject better than anyone.
Thanks guys for the help, seriously!:seasix:

Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called "retirement"
Relaxing word, retirement
It means forever, and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you there's something else:
The togetherness
A world of never ending being around each other
You can always see the Sun, day or night
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything'll-Be-All-Right
Instead of asking him how much of your time you'll spend together
Ask him how much of your mind, babe
'Cause in this life
Things are much harder in retirement
In this life
You're on your own
And if de retirement tries to bring you down
Go crazy (Punch a higher floor)
You people with your AI....damn, just write something yourself, like I did.
