Cliffs for the browsing-impaired:

OP has a son who failed his driving test 4 times, but neither he nor his son can figure out why. The DMV official refuses to tell the son what he did wrong, he just stops the test and makes the kid walk back to the DMV facility. Dad wants to take the test himself to see what's going on but the DMV won't let him, nor will they allow either him or his wife to stand outside and observe the test. Dad can't send his son to a driving school because there are none close by; he would have to rent a motel room for the duration of the driving class. While he's not above doing that, he thinks it might be a little extreme. :willy:

This is one of those crazy threads like the one where a posted locked himself in his basement and people tried to help him escape. :funniest:

Sounds like a 'made-up' bullshit story, I've been to dozens of DMVs all over the east coast and you could stand right outside and observe anybody taking the driver's test. And I'm not buying that the DMV official won't tell a driver being tested what they did wrong.

And what sort of vaganized Dad can't teach a kid to drive himself? Or at least do their own test drive together to see what is being done improperly...

My Dad taught me, I taught my future wife and my daughter...

Now it h as been many years since I took my test. But I used a family car that I practiced driving with. So if that is still the case it sounds like the kid was carjacked. :confused5:

No sympathy here.
Either the kid cannot drive, or the kid has pissed them off.

If the dad really wants to resolve, he should confront dmv management.

I took my test the day I turned 16, had been driving for two years earlier, mostly before I got my restricted / learners, also took high school driver ed course before driving test.
I only got to drive about 50% of the alloted drive time in driver's ed, teacher was a dick, sat me down many days for going too fast or turning the AC on, or spitting Skoal down the side of the door---yep, I was a dick way back then.

I used my friend's 71 'Cuda, the dmv tester cut me short, about 50% through course, ask how long I have been driving, ended test there and said I passed.

No one in my circle in high school ever admitted to failing the driver's exam,,,

I've been following that thread with some interest, and some scepticism since much of the the OP is claiming doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I find it hard to believe that the DMV tester won't tell either the kid or his dad what went wrong. If I was in that position, I sure wouldn't be taking "no" for an answer.

OK, several in each state of Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and Florida. In Florida the DMV is usually at a tax collection site for a specific county, and, recently they won't process business from a DIFFERENT county. So I've been to the DMV in Polk County, Lake County, Orange County and others I only vaguely remember...

And then I was in the car biz decades ago and got plenty of DMV time, including back when the big one was on broad street in Richmond, Va..

So yeah - I've seen a few...
