Many mediocre pizza joints here offer less-than-mediocre cheesesteaks.
Sadly, I accept this, but am hoping one day for better.

I will admit in PA I have tasted some very most excellent cheesesteaks, Original Dominick's is ALWAYS on my list!!

There was a place in McLean called McLean Pizza. Might still be there for all I know. They had a steak and cheese supreme. It came with bacon and sauteed mushrooms and onions and peppers on it. Over thirty-plus years, I had many of them.

I've been to Philly. Have friends and family in the area.

CA does not have a proper cheese-steak sandwich. Or Italian food, for the most part. And ZERO German food.

Nope, PA has superior food than CA, and the Eastern Seaboard has better seafood as well.

I get spoiled when I visit and then have to come back home. Which is why I do most of my own cooking, unless it's Mex or Asian.

Philadelphia is the only place that makes a real cheesesteak. It really comes down to the rolls. Amaroso rolls really make the sandwich. You can replicate the rest of the ingredients but their rolls are really difficult to substitute.

I use them for sandwich rolls all the time, I make my own cheesesteaks with them and shaved steak.

04comm,
After I graduated high school, I drove with a friend to Boston, we spent a night at his aunt's in Brick Township.
She got us the best steak 'grinders', crazy how I still remember that, but they were that good!!

On the boardwalk here you can get a good cheese steak and one block off the boardwalk are two cheese steak eateries that compete against each other and they are very good ! ...I think they're feuding brothers.

Wrong x2!

The……absolute best cheesesteak I’ve ever had is in Pennsgrove NJ! Bruce Willis home town at a small joint call the Roman Pantry.

In a close tie! Is Silvio’s Deli in Hatboro PA. They make their own rolls!

They hands down crush anyone else!

DAlessandro’s is overpriced and hyped.

Why do people from the Chicago area always feel the need to cheerlead for their mediocre foods like their hotdogs and pizza whenever the discussion of great food comes up. Do they realize they are the only ones who think it’s good, nobody else outside of Chicago eat these foods. It’s not like your in New York City and see “Chicago style” eateries or anywhere else for that matter. I work a lot in Kentucky and they really think Papa John’s is good pizza. They just don’t know what good pizza taste like. Same with the Chicago peeps who swear all their bland, generic dishes are great.😁

Agreed. Chicago has shit taste in most things, food included. They claim they like grease logged fries as if it was intentional the moron cooks fry in oil that's not hot enough. They put their pizza sauce on top of cheese so it can all slide off into oblivion. They think mixing cheese popcorn with caramel popcorn is ingenious. The only thing I can jive with is a poppy seed bun for the tube steak and no ketchup as a rule.

04, North Jersey does have some awesome food. Growing up at the Shore, I always heard how much better this and that was in North Jersey!

I’m not trying to piss folks from Chicago off. They are proud of their local foods. I just get tired of them always feeling the need to tell us when NOBODY ASKED.

I think people make way too big of a deal about food. It’s not a sport or competition. Eat. Poop. Survive.
