Not kidding at all. If I am kidding in a post, I will generally include a smiley face.Just look at what some people list is their location and their profiles and I think you would have to agree.
Personally, I have always listed my actual location in my profile for many reasons such as for shipping/pick up of parts I might have for sale, information regarding weather when speaking on those types of post that find it helpful, possible face-to-face interaction with other members that might be close by, etc.

And if you are selling something or meeting someone it isn't rocket surgery to have that conversation, in private or public.

Yeah, well, in my opinion, there are a lot of flag waivers here (regardless of what flag you’re waving), keyboard, quarterbacks, big talkers, etc. that likely would be afraid to confront anybody face-to-face with much of what they have to say here. It might just be that some are afraid of their location would be known they might have to deal with this.
I typically do not engage in political threads nor do I make my politics known as that is my right as a citizen of the United States and the reason that we have a secret ballot system for voting. So it’s no one‘s business but mine as to what my political views are. However, I never afraid to post what I really feel in a threat that I participate in.

Nothing high horse about it. I’m just stating facts as I see them. As far as me being too serious for this forum that may be your opinion and everybody’s entitled to one. I post here to stay alive on this website in hopes that someday it will have the traction that the Corvette Forum used to have with regards to what this site is supposed to be about which is Corvettes. I really don’t understand why these sites have these off track forums other than a place to refer people to that typically get carried away with personal comments, etc., and threads that are about cars. unfortunately, this section of the site is the one that has the most member participation so that’s why I read it every day and occasionally post in it.

Where people share ideas and opinions and bust on each other daily. It's basically a place where 50-60-70 year old men (and a few gals) can act like 14 year old boys. With occasional seriousness mixed in.
Check out any thread where someone needs prayers, or lost a pet or loved one...the humanity shines through.

With regards to the site I am not really interested in sharing much about myself personally other than how it relates to the Corvette hobby. It’s really none of my business about other members here personally nor is it their business regarding me personally other than what I choose to share.
Here’s a personal story about me that relates to the hobby as you will see.
When I was about 12 years old, I was at my cousins house on a Sunday night watching Bonanza, which was sponsored by Chevrolet. And those days they would run the show commercial free until the program was over around the first of October of each year, which was when the new cars were typically Unveiled at the dealerships the next day, which was Monday as Bonanza was on on Sunday nights. This was the fall of 1962 so they were showcasing the new 1963 models. The screen went black and we thought something was wrong with the television, then, the screen lit up with a 1963 Corvette coupe on a turntable and the only light was spotlights on the car. It started with a profile of the coupe slowly, turning to the rear to show the split window than the other side in profile, and as it turned to the front of the car, the hidden headlights rolled up. I had not really paid much attention to cars in my life up until this point and when I saw this, I was mesmerized and I said to myself someday I’m going to own one of those cars. That program with that commercial was a pivotal point in my life with my love of sports, muscle, antique and special interest cars. As it turned out when I was 19 years old, I bought my first Corvette, which was a 1958. I have owned over 20 Corvettes in my life and many of them were mid years. The funny thing is of all the mid years of Owned I’ve never owned a 1963. However, I have been just as happy to have the other mid years that I have owned that are basically the same car except for the improvements beginning in 1965.

I am not lecturing anyone. And as far as trying to steer the Vette Barn site/forum I came here expecting to find a site similar to the Corvette forum. Unfortunately as I have mentioned previously, this site does not have a lot of activity like the Corvette form had in the past even though many of their better members with regards to Corvette knowledge are now here. unfortunately, many of them no longer own a Corvette or are not interested in educating any new buyers of these Classic cars. So unfortunately, if that doesn’t change, this site will die out with the exception of this off track section which I’m not sure would survive in the long run for a site with a name like the Vette Barn.

Great story, Autoholic. I've been into cars since I could crawl, literally. My older brother played with balloons and dolls and I played with toy cars. I loved all cars, the more 'special' the better. We had family friends with Chrysler letter cars (one was a '60-300F convertible), Jaguar XK-120's and XKE's, big Mercury's, turbo Corvairs, VW bugs, you name it. I met one of them 35 years later and told him I loved riding in his black and white '56 Bel Air. He asked me how I knew the year of the car, as I was 5 years old. I told him I knew all the years of the Bel Air, and most American cars.
You're a serious car guy, like Tom Parsons (DZAuto). Not a BS-around-the-pool hall type of guy. That's fine. Most of us here are as Lars states....car guys, but here to mainly cut up and act like teenagers. We do support each other and in general, respect each other. I wish I could put up with the C1 C2 forum over there, but I can't. I just can't stand Vettebuyer or the other moderators. Which is why I haven't been on that area of the site in 3 years. **** them, I know how to fix my cars. :cert:

Yes, I always enjoyed your post on the C1/C2 section of the Corvette forum when you posted there. You were always very helpful to new members or people that ask questions about their cars mechanically.
Unfortunately, for me, no one else older than me in my family when I was growing up had any interest in cars. They were just transportation as far as my father was concerned and no one else really cared about them that much, especially with regard to high performance or flash.
I understand some of the cutting up and acting like teenagers and that’s fine for some of it but as you mentioned i’m not really a BS kind of guy and I’m here mainly for the automotive content. And I am a true car guy not just a Corvette guy. I have owned about 150 cars in my lifetime and those are just the sports muscle, antique and special interest types not counting regular family, transportation cars. So I’malways interested about other members other brand/models of cars, such as the GTO’s that you are so fond of. I only ever owned one GTO, but it was a great one. It was a 1970 GTO judge convertible 4 speed with ram air IV. That was years ago and later in life I found out that that car was one of 17 built and apparently there were no records of how many of them were ram air IV equipped. A big money car these days and the last one that I saw sell was at Barrett Jackson back in about 2004 for $450,000.

That '70 Judge Ram Air 4 ragtop is about a 2 million dollar car now. I tried to buy a '69 Judge RA 3 ragtop in the early '80's for $3500 (it was beat to hell) but the original owner 'knew what he had' and wanted $10k.
A late friend of mine had a Pepper Green/green RA4-4 speed '70 Judge ragtop that was restored. He paid over 100k for it years ago and IIRC, the restoration cost more than that. It's a 2 million dollar car, IMO.121158

Of course back then, anyone who liked anything in green was assumed to be a *homosexual, so younger guys weren't buying them.
I was told I was a homosexual on the other forum because I had a Tundra. I was 58 years old at the time and up until then, had no clue.
The color that was popular with Pontiac starting in '67 on the Firebird was called 'Verdoro Green'. John DeLorean's wife saw an ashtray that color at a GM party in 1966 and told her husband she wanted to see the Firebirds in that color. And so it went. It was a nice color initially, until it faded into Olive Drab in about 3 years and looked like hell. New cars today restored tend to hold up better and look good. I like the green, especially on the midyear Corvettes.....Glenn Green, Goodwood Green, and Mosport Green.

Ahh, Goodwood green, the most produced color for 67 Corvette model year.

Tundra owners are homos? Wow, that's a new one. Any color, doesn't have to be green?
Imma buy a new truck as soon as I get around to it, nearest dealer is like 30 miles away.
Now that the 55+ year homo/green thing is over, I would buy a green one, although blue would be my first preference, then red, then green -- ANYTHING BUT SOME SHADE OF WHITE/GRAY/SILVER/LIGHT BLACK/DARK WHITE, etc. https://i.imgur.com/jkx6Zdo.gif

Too flat, too hot, too many bugs.
Looks like my BIL's car that he bought new after graduating college, and owned for about 6 weeks before it was stolen and vandalized, totalled, by Massholes. **** Boston Mass.

That is ridiculous.
A much higher quality car than a hemi Challenger ragtop that's worth twice the money.
And not a bad investment. Park it in your garage, drive every now and then, and watch it appreciate faster than real estate.
On my peanuts budget personal level, my GTO's have increased in value 30 to 40 times what I paid for them, and I've been driving them and using them for over 40 years. That's far from ridiculous. It's being thrifty with flare. :)

Would you buy a GTO for what one sells for today?

If I wanted one. The GM cars of that era were well engineered, constructed, and have nice styling. I’ve had first/gen GTOs all my life so at this stage would probably get something else. Since Simplex Speed Cars and Duesenbergs are out of my league I may have to settle for a 427 mid year or 62 GrandPrix. I’ve had Mopars of that era and they are too cheaply constructed for my liking. An R code 63 Galaxie may be in the cards.

All cars from the 50's through the present have their share of shitty production workers.
The worst quality stuff ever was the Chrysler corporation stuff from about 1967 to present day.
Which is why you still see Chevy Monte Carlos on the road, but never a Cordoba from the same era. (I'm talking CA where 50-70 year old cars are a daily sighting running errands.)
