I got a magazine from the college of business from the university I graduated from. In the 30 pages, they list 100's of awards faculty and students have won. It's gotten to the point where they create so many "awards" that EVERYONE has one.
Here are a few awards that one guy has won..
"Outstanding MBA Professor Award, the Bruce Magoon Master Teacher Award, the Harold E. Hackler Award for Outstanding Teaching, the Alumni Teaching Award and the Master Teaching Award."
How many "teaching" awards can you possibly have? :slap:
It's even more bullsh*t when you add in the "research" articles they publish. "The Impact of Technology on Emergent Leadership Behaviors and Perceptions" and "A Longitudinal Comparison of Leader-Follower Relationships Between High and Low Performing Self-Managed Work Teams in Virtual Settings."
Jerk Me F'n Off!!! :kick:
I guess that's why recent graduates want $100,000 out of college. "During college I won 17 awards and got seven articles published." Yet when I ask them very BASIC questions related to my field, they have no clue.

You should see the students that we have coming at the hospital.... some are as dumb as a box of rocks and I don't even want to go into one particular "teacher" who just so happens to have graduated in the last couple of years herself.:will:

Ummmmm.... maybe the Peace and Literature prizes, but the hard science prizes (Medicine, Physics and Chemistry) are still awesome and incredibly difficult to get.

 now it's just a shame that anyone not in that realm will not equate the genius in the details for the true pioneers

This is why I have my students write papers on the Nobel Prize history and a few of the scientific awards. They begin to respect what it represents in some circles.

Just to help you out...you're gonna have to actually go out and buy some Cracker Jacks. Just saying...
