My Fiancé had a chihuahua who I despised. Mean and useless dog.

She was 18 and we finally had to put her down after Christmas. She wanted another one and I did not, I find them an annoying useless breed. Our Pitbull ignored the other one, even he was annoyed with it. She went after him once, he turned around swatted her with his paw across the room and that was the end of it.

She found one that she wanted and I begrudgingly agreed. Her previous dog was 9lbs, this one was 2.9 at weigh in this morning. 4 months old.

I am not a small dog person, especially this breed but she is completely different than any other one I have met.

Friendly, curious, loves people, likes to play. Completely the opposite of what we had. She met our Pitbull and immediately took to him playing, she isn't sure about laying with him just because of his size. We have to be careful because their heads do not fully form and usually have a soft spot until they are quite a bit older. Also quiet, no yipping or barking.

Should get to 4lbs and that is about it.

Small dogs are good, they take up less space at the top of the bed.

DAMN Elvis thinks he owns the top of our bed, at 30+ lbs it is a challenge every night to get in my comfy position, with my pillow intact.

Lucy.

That was our compromise, I got to name her. Originally it was short for Lucifer because those dogs are evil :)

Ours is 65lbs and after spending 2 weeks at the sitters while we were on vacation with 6 Huskies came back full of muscle and is now much harder to move.

Our last dog was a 3.5 lb Poodle....best dog of all we had.
All he wanted was to give and receive love, which he did and got :seasix:
We inherited him at 7 yrs old, untrained and not a nice dog but in a month my wife had him trained and for the next 7 years he had a very good life. The goggles are because he got cataracts and needed them in the bright light of day.
Good luck with that little guy, you'll love him.

Try moving a 130 LB Bernese Mountain Dog. When she cuddles in she will push my feet to the edge of the bed. Loves to cuddle.

We're on our second Bernese. The only issue I have with them is they don't live that long.

That one is also useless; a football weighs more than that.

We lost our first one in June, he was 8.5. Our oldest girl is 8 and our "puppy" is 4 and acts like she is 6 months.
I agree, their life is too short but you enjoy them every second they are around.

Welcome Lucy! My daughter has two chihuahuas. One is fantastic, the other is a yappy asshole.

Both of us. She will lay with me for a while, then go to her, then come back.

Our last one made 8.5 too, but my wife is a vet and sees quite a few that only make it to 6. There are also the exceptions that make to 10+. Our current one is 4, but is also 1/16th Great Pyrenees. That is supposed to help with the lifespan. We'll see. Wonderful dogs with great personalities.

We have had male dogs for 30 years. Last one passed a year ago. We adopted a 5 month old female Chiwoxy a year ago. Still over playful, put her through several phases of obedience. She has a billion toys all over and happy as a clam.

The big thing I noticed is in addition to a yard for playing and exercise, we always take them for a walk regularly. Male dogs continuously piss on everything from start to finish marking their territory.

Females don't. They just go along for the walk with an occasional pee or poop but thats it. Not stopping for every post, tree, rock, bush or car tire.

Good luck with the new pup.

I’m a Labrador guy. They are a handful and they are eating & pooping machines. They are hairy and shed an Indian blanket every day.

I have two females and they are both sweethearts and a royal pain in the ass. But super loyal and loving. When I come home from a long day they are all over me like I was never coming back.
Spoiled and awesome. And my older one (11 in February) was a damn good bird retriever in her youth.

I don't trust people that don't like dogs :yesnod:

Wish I always had this mindset as I wouldn't have wasted years with my ex :fruit:

Well now I have owned dogs from 2.9lbs as of yesterday to 115lbs.

I do not think it is so much weight but mass. Our current Pitbull Howard is only 65ish lbs., may be 70 with all the muscle he put on, but he is solid.

My previous dog, a Cataluha Char Pei was the same, he wasn't big but he was a walking brick. Never had a dog with so much personality, in the divorce we didn't want to separate them so she took them both, it had to be done that way but my only regret that I didn't get to keep him.
