Back in about '73 a couple or more guys told me I was OK and should come hang out at this arcade joint, just north of Saginaw on Waverly. Can't remember the name, probably something like Waverly Arcade.

I hung out for an hour and was having a good time and then all of a sudden a gumball machine fell over and smashed. All kinds of mother****ers were crazily grabbing at spilled gumballs, I was hopping on my bike and GTFOD.

Yep. Pac Man was big back then. Liked Gallaga as well. So last year I added this to my game room. The top lies flat so that two players can play on the ends - I believe this was called "cocktail table games". It holds 4,538 games, so pretty much every arcade game ever released either here or in Korea and Japan. Many that I have never heard of.

As for pool, I've owned my own table for the last 32 years. I get it recovered every 4 to 5 years and have the cushions replaced every other recovering.

I guess I just never really grew out of it. I just prefer to play them at home with an adult beverage nearby.

In 1963 I was officially a teenager. I occasionally hung out in a pool hall where there were pinball machines, but this was before the time of video games. I wouldn’t spend much of my extra money on pinball or pool as I was a close horse and would rather spend my money on clothes. In 1978 when I owned a bar asteroids was my game and I dropped plenty of quarters in the machine however I got half of them back since the machine was placed by the operator on a 50-50 split.
I have always been the type that watches my money and spends it on things I think will give me a return. This is one of the reasons I have owned so many cars in my lifetime as they were money makers for me as well as real estate.

yeah I'm a product of a misspent youth...........the place I hung out, had pinball tournaments, and I could not be beat......I once turned over a KISS machine 4 times in one game; figured that would never be beaten, and got bored, and just quit............I can play Asteroids as long as I want, without ever losing.......

We have 1 place left in town, where you pay a fee, and can play unlimited....it has all the old games............I haven't been to it yet though.

One thing about having a little over 4,500 games at one's disposal is that you will occasionally happen upon some really strange ones. Take Uncle Poo for instance. You control this old guy as he runs around a maze collecting diamonds while various things chase him. His only defense is to shoot poop out his butt at the creatures who are trying to catch him. It takes a bit to get used to having your back towards what you are trying to shoot, but it is a fun game in the end. It was created by Diatec in 1983.

Unfortunately I have a cousin like this.
If he can stop trying to show his "intelligence" and need to be right 100 % of the time he's actually really fun to be around. It was funny for my son as a toddler and youngster to correct him then basically show him the hand when the cousin tried to correct him. He was forced to laugh especially when half the time son was correct.
