I am perfectly satisfied with what I have in my life at this time. Too old to be wishing on ridiculously expensive things like many people would buy if they won the lottery if I won it, I would probably just split it up amongst my kids.

I’m not sure where you got any of that from my post? I’ve got plenty of love in my life. My guesswould be that when someone post something like that, that’s usually their problem.

I told "Santa" (my daughter) I wanted 4 stemless Martini glasses
I would like an electric guitar. I had two, but didn't like one, so when someone made me an offer on it, I sold it. The other was reclaimed by the original owner back in April after 18 years of my "ownership". I tried to claim "squatter's rights" to the guitar (I really like that one), but lost in "family court" (like, the family said "shut up and give him his guitar back).

You sound like a millennial. My son never wanted a watch and my last was one, he gifted back to me 14 years ago. Now that he's 32 and thick into the rat race, he's discovered the convenience of a wristwatch. He's been hooked on his inexpensive "smart" watch. Very recently his wife bought a "nice" smart watch. Those can run to the $3000 range.
My last watch was a quartz movement. Since I rarely wear it, mainly when we take trips and catching planes/ trains is important, the battery seemed to be always dead. So I opted for an automatic. Simple, reliable.
Here is mine. I got it as it was same brand etc, my Dad wore in Vietnam
Still looks great. That's got to be an incredible heirloom for you. :seasix:
I recently saw a Youtube video where the basic Hamilton watch was cited as one of the most important "weapons" of WW2. "Timing is everything..."

I updated pics of my Dads watch worn in Vietnam. Funny thing, when I turned the knob to wind it up, it started working.. It has been in storage for a few decades.
Mine is a more fashionable one, like yours, for work and dining out etc.
Not cheap, not expensive, but definitely not a Rolex..

Most here are pretty much satisfied with life. I may not be as old as you (65) and I’m not greedy. I still like ridiculously expensive things. Not because they are expensive, that’s not my doing.
But give me a multi million dollar lottery win (even multi thousand dollar) and I’d enjoy the crap out of it. I also would give to others.
Money doesn’t buy happiness. But it sure makes being poor more fun. :D :cert:
Nice, BUT my phone is the best watch I have ever owned,,, does other stuff too.
Yeah I don't get why anyone wants a watch these days. Do you wear a gold chain around your neck also? :Jeff '79:
Phones, clocks all over the place everywhere you go, and the ones in our vehicles actually RUN and are ACCURATE unlike those dopey things from decades ago.
The fewer "things" I have to do every day when I get up and again at night before going to bed the better I am. Dicking with a watch isn't one of them.
I see friends and acquaintances every day and can't tell you who does or doesn't wear a watch because . . .

The Massey Ferguson video I posted was in fun but I really do want one.
However it is not happening this year. Santa (wife) has requested the house get completed before I spend any more money on tractors and trucks and 4 wheelers and stuffs.
Have you priced cabinets and countertops lately. Hole-Lee-Fook. :willy:
And flooring and appliances and trim work and fixtures. Hole-Lee-Chit :willy:
Not a subtle brag. More…Hole-Lee-Underwear, this is making me broke.
Any of y'all hiring? :funniest:

That's what's great about a mechanical watch. It can sit in a drawer, literally for decades, then work when you wind it. Not so with anything with a battery.

There’s a bunch of exotic cars, beach homes, expensive toys, etc that I’d love to have for sure…but to be honest, I’m pretty darned blessed in what I already do have.
With that said, my wish is simply for everyone to be healthy and happy, and that all those struggling with disease or illness, be restored to full health.
But if I had to ask Santa for something for my own self, it would be that my surgery in January goes well and that I don’t full-code this time…my doggie needs me.

Good for you. But there’s plenty of watches that are rated for 100 meters or more that the manufacturer stands behind. Seiko being one. Hamilton being another. Having a watch pressure tested means more than the name on the dial when it comes to water resistance. :cert:
Oh yeah, one more thing, I almost forgot: I have three Submariners.

But for the cost a guy can have a diesel SuperDuty.

Back in 2000 a friend of mine went to buy a new Ford SUV (all his cars and trucks were Fords) and they were trying to sell the Excursions but nobody wanted them due to their one-ton chassis and huge size. He was offered one for the same price as an Expedition, which he was there to buy, so he bought the Excursion. He got 20 years of solid use out of it with no issues other than gasoline costs. He ended selling it to a Mexican family who wanted to drive it back down there. He got IIRC about $8,000 for it, which was excellent. Not my cup of tea, but a solid vehicle. Way better than the Explorer or Expedition of the era.

The ranger raptor has pretty much all the bells and whistles for $58,000.00. F-250 Lariat with the cheap diesel is $77,000.00 Definitely more truck but not something I would use.

That’s great. I imagined most dealers are marking them up.
Some are but several aren't. Bunch of them on the lots now. I think, at least in my area, car dealerships are going thru a recession. High rates, high debt consumers and such.
I was surprised too. $58k seems downright reasonable when compared to specialty vehicle prices, more recently. Tempting but I'd have to liquidate assets or take on debt. I want to see what happens when Trump gets back in to office, unless ford gives a decent incentive sooner.
