A nice one.....for someone else to own
Looks like a trawler. See this example for similarities:

Exactly what I was going to say, but you beat me to it. You couldn't give me that thing.
More boat than I would want to keep up. Just put mine up for the winter. Paid some one else to winterize it for me this time. Didnt feel like contorting my body to get to all the drain plugs. :yesnod:

It's an early 90s Bluewater. Taiwanese yacht builders. :cert:

It's a convertible sport fisher. Manufacturer unknown.
Probably a custom one-off.

it's unattractive, for sure. the '90s Powerquest windshield on the flybridge really doesn't work with the rest of the lines, which already are questionable.

Good/Bad/Giant POS?
No I'm not considering a boat. This thing is in the boat yard of a yacht club - that has a bald eagle nest in it.

Probably got a couple of 454s, length means lots of $ for storage wet or dry, destined to become a liveaboard at a cheap marina somewhere.

That craft has very low free board at the stern , not good for rough waters , probably a lake boat .

Sorry friend but that is not even close to a convertible sport fisher. Sport fishers (convertible, express, fly bridge) do not have large mid ship cabins and small aft deck.
That OP boat is a mid cabin fly bridge cruiser or a sport trawler.
This vvv is a convertible sport fisher.

Definitely a Bluewater but were they built in Taiwan? Name is a misnomer for sure, protected lake boat would have been better.

:iagree:
My old man loved his trawlers. He sold his Halverson a few years back and other than a Grand Banks, is the only boat he regrets selling.

My answer was as valid as any of the other WAG in this thread. :D
I even asked a waterman seated at the bar next to us. He never saw anything like that boat before, so that was his answer. I relayed it.

No harm no foul. Notice I said sorry “friend” :cert:
No disrespect meant.
I’m not a yachtsman but I lived in Destin for 30+ years and I spent a lot of time on and around big sport fishing boats (and other boats).
I was very fortunate to have friends who were into it big time. Yeah I knew some rich dudes.
Wow what an experience and what a ride those days were.

Ex son-in-law (and still a friend) has worked at a Clearwater marina for decades, I went out in his center console in the Gulf to fish and the seas got rough - REAL rough and we had to hotfoot it to safety.... I guess it was a 16 footer - cured me of going much offshore in smaller craft.

it doesn't take much for a 16 footer to feel too small out there.

We (wife and I) were offshore of Cudjoe Key (Lower FL Keys) in our 17 foot Mako center console. (calm seas no doubt)
When the Lowrance showed Cuba on the screen we were both
Had an excellent day and caught my largest ever 40+ lb Bull Dolphin on spin tackle (mahi mahi) and hooked up but lost a small sailfish. Also saw a sea turtle as big as the boat. That, was actually the most frightening part. :willy:
We also had a 24 foot Make CC that we ran out of Destin Harbor. We would regularly go out to "the nipple" (about 40 miles offshore) and fish the bluewater. Boat had a single screw Johnson 225hp. Yes we were young and adventurous...very adventurous.
Those days are behind me now.

Two things always bothered me; heights and being out of sight of land in a small boat and I don't know why. I read about explorer Shackleford's voyage in an open boat across hundreds of miles at sea and couldn't figure out why the dinghy didn't sink from the weight of his balls.
Never had an issue with speed or getting battered around on theme park rides....
When I bought my first cruiser jet ski, the salesman invited me to join up with his crowd to ride from Miami to the Bahamas, I actually thought he was joking - he was not; f*ck that:

Once I was with a buddy in my Mako 24 and we were 30+ miles offshore. Plenty out of sight of even the tallest condos. And out of VHF range to shore.
We were fishing a large weed mat of saragasm grass and he's a fly fisherman and he wanted to shut down the single Johnson outboard... :willy:
So there we were helpless and hopeless if that Johnny didn't fire back up. We did have a blast catching chicken dolphin on the flies. Although I was a bit uncomfortable. :ohnoes:
He's a career Coastie and not sure how that was supposed to help but it did a little.
I was plenty relieved when we fired that outboard up and made our way back to the hill.

That Taiwan builder builds for a lot of different names but Bluewater Coastal boats were built in Minnesota. Been out of business for a long time.

I live fairly close to several marinas. Stillwater, Red Wing, Hastings, Hudson, Prescott and St. Paul.
On any given weekend during the summer months the majority of the boats are sitting there, docked.
The river does tend to fill up on the 4th of July and Labor Day -weather permitting- but those that do leave the slip just sit there.
I don’t get boats. 🤣

Most people love the idea of a boat or camper more than the actual ownership. The thought of freedom and adventure is alluring to anyone with the cash or good credit.
It’s why most sit and rot.

I love buying shit and don’t feel the least bit guilty doing it. But it’s GOT or be shit I’ll use. Often.
Case in point; I spent $14K on a camera lens. That’s an obscene amount of money but I use that thing constantly. If I only pulled it out a couple times a year I’d dump it.

That is one great thing about the motorcycles. Easy to hop on and go. Easy to park and store. A boat and camper is a chore just to get ready to use and after use. And of course storage is a challenge.
Ask me how I know. :Jeff '79:

Yep. Even though I sold my waterfront property, I still own a boat, since it's stored at a friend's vacant boat lift on his waterfront property.
I'm not so sure I'd own a boat again if I had to trailer it to the ramp every time I used it. It's a suckass experience, every time.

Same argument I’ve had with my snowmobile friends. You’re TOTALLY at the mercy of the weather. Sure, there is always snow out west but that means time away from work, trailering, (another expense) hotels, meals etc.
Motorcycle? Walk out to the garage, slip on the assless chaps, a doo-rag, maybe a sleeveless t-shirt, some Oakley wraparounds and away I go.
🤣

I wouldn't have a boat if I didn't have a pier to dock it on at my backdoor....just untie it and go. RVs and campers ? No, everybody I know with one uses the crap out of it for 18 months then its a lawn ornament - my daughter included. And getting a campsite now in Florida is months of waiting in the prime season.
