My daughter is home from school for four days, and she, and my other daughter, got hit today from behind by an SUV , while sitting at a red light. They are both ok, so far, but my collision guy said that it looks like a total. He figures we'll get about 3k for it...97 Honda Accord LS, 128k miles ....What's book for that ?

Damn, a new bumper and trunk hood from a junk yard and you're golden. Take the cash and run. A few rattle cans and she's as good as new.

:yesnod: She'll take the money, and I'll sell the car. She's away at college all the time so she doesn't even need it. We used that as our winter beater anyway....Time to upgrade.....:D Winter beater, that is....

Shit Nigerian. I'd stick a new trunk lid and bumper cover on that biotch and drive it for another 100k.

We both have Allstate, and the adjuster said the fault is 100% theirs, and they totaled the Honda, and want to give me $2546.00 for it....I told the adjuster that I probably should get at least 3k, so he said that he's there to "help me".:slap:....He will submit it to the next level, where someone will call me and work it out further....Has anyone ever had to haggle with their insurance company ?

It's a loaded 1997 Honda Accord LX with 167,500 miles on it. It ran like a top, but is showing it's age with rusty spots. What is a reasonable price to accept for the car ? I averaged 7 cars, of the same year, for sale on Auto Trader, and came up with $3519.00....A better shot would be a 3 car snapshot, which averaged out at $2995.00.....

Send me the VIN and the miles, and I'll run some books for you.

Nevermind, pulled a VIN off Cars.com

$2500 is a little low.

NADA has it for about $4K retail, $2400 wholesale. Considering it's a bit rusty, I think $3000-$3200 is about right. Look at the bright side: That's a helluva lot for a 14-year-old car.

Ya, I think 3k is the right price....We'll see what the next level brings. I really wouldn't be pissed if I got $2800.00 though.

That car's not totaled. If you turn it over to insurance, I guarantee it'll be on the auction block in less than two weeks. BTDT.

Oh, and glad your daughter's OK, too.

Typical Honda. Particularly along the rear fender wells.

My wife got front end damage after the tornadoes and it is over 10k in damage. They didn't total it out. It's in the shop with cosmetic damage (fender, grill, lights, etc) and a broken radiator.

Ouch.

Most likely she'll lose the good driver discount...
