I found the car in the for sale section. The guy made one post in a thread that was not even his thread and posted no pictures. The thread was a few months old.

I sent him an email and asked him if the car as still for sale and asked for the background.

He was a mobile home dealer in North Carolina and bought the ar from the local dealer and paid cash. Since he had a dealer permit or license he was able to just have the MSO signed over to him from the Chevy dealership and not title the car.

He had it for 18 months and only put 2058 miles on it. When he would drive it, he would put dealer plates on it. It still had lots of warranty left and the floor still had the plastic on it and the transparent roof was still wrapped in plastic and stored in his closet.

I flew to NC and bought it for 32k, it had a sticker of $49,675, he paid $39,00 for it (the 05 C6 was already out and dealers were discounting a lot), he had the car for 18 months in his toy garage and I honestly don't think he ever drove it in the rain.

I did. I sold it to my father in law with 16k miles when I bought the C6Z in Jan 09.

So to sum it up, I was the 2nd owner and the 1st titled owner.

No, I sold it a couple years ago. 86 with factory leather and sunroof, 3rd owner, 63K original miles when I sold it. I have mixed feelings about having sold it.

my 1st Vette looked exactly like this '96 Collector Coupe. I bought it new in 96...I was 35 years old...the car listed for 42K...I paid 38K out the door...CASH...I thought I had arrived.

Dad had dreams of building a mini western town on his horse ranch and bought a bunch of those smaller type buildings. However when you are flying 3 weeks a month and aren't around, things go to crap. Now that he's retired maybe he'll get around to it. Then again, he has that new vacation home in Havasu so I doubt it...

Bought a black 1993 Coupe in 1999, an automatic, with the 2.59 rear end and FE1 (base) suspension, for too much money, before I really knew anything about Corvettes.

Loved that car, even though it was already "slow" for the era.

Since then I've had a 1999 FRC, and now a 1998 Coupe, both MN6 cars.

I saw a really nice one the other day with 30 something thousand miles for $17k. I thought the price was a bit high but it was a really nice car. If I had the garage space, I would be a male version of Liz (the cars, NOT the shoes....my legs are too hairy).

Bought it from an 80 year old man in Orlando, FL. I had to rent a u-haul to bring it back to GA. Restored it, enjoyed it for a few years, and then sold it. It is still in Marietta, GA. I still see it and the guy I sold it to at cruise nights and events in the area.

My relationship with my father is an interesting study. I could write a book. After almost 11 years of ownership, it's by far the longest I've owned one vehicle. It's just become more of a burden than a blessing. I'd just hate to see it rot out again.
