Upgraded the theater with a new amp to handle the 2 extra Atmos speakers.
Currently running a 7.2.2 and added rear Atmos to do 7.2.4

Stoked to hear the results after re-running room EQ/curves with the new rig.

Any other theater/audio nuts floating around here?

Yes, I'm an audiophile. No, I can't afford to buy what I really want to run.

Two La-Z-Boy recliners in front of a Best Buy flat screen. I don't need more excuses to park my azz in cushy chair and overeat while doing the whole "immersion" thing....rather be biking, boating, etc..

I have a very humble setup with tiny 2 channel amp wired simply to 4 speakers in wall/ceiling. Projector and 100" or so screen. I just painted the walls/ceiling flat black and made my own acoustic panels covered in red velvet. I only have a futon so far for seating because I don't think I can fit any comfy chairs down the narrow, turning stairway to the basement.
Next upgrade is to mostly box off the projector in acrylic and try to redirect the noise it makes with the fan. Maybe there are fanless projectors idk. But the projector is overhead and just behind my head and mostly drowned out but noticeable in quiet parts.

Have 2 setups. Living room is 7.2.4 on a Denon AVR-X6500H and the media room is 5.1.4 on a Denon AVR-A1H with Dirac Live full correction and Bass Control.

Nobody I know can afford their end game, dream system but you can get great sound on a budget with used gear, speaker placement, room treatment etc.

A simple 5.1 system is great and also pretty easy to dial in. Denon and Klipsch make for a nice theater set up.
Denon has an upgraded version of Audyssey that has excellent results and really user friendly.

Wife and I made our own acoustic panels for the walls as well. Saved a hell of a lot of money too, especially for absorption panels.

Projector noise is tough and for some reason, they always seem to put noisy fans in projectors under $4k. It's not really pricey for a quieter freakin' fan.

I have ours in a shielded box with fabric behind it which gives good ventilation but muffles some of the noise, though it's pretty quiet.

I prefer to shake the seats with the subs. :D

Sub 1 is a dual 18" with a 4000 amp (JTR Captivator S2) and does a great job pressurizing the room.

It peaks at 126 dB at 40 Hz and will shake your body during explosion scenes if you have the volume juiced.

Nice! Dirac has come a long way from their earlier days. A lot of folks had issues with bass management and deep bass was heavily attenuated for some reason.

Emotiva has been using Dirac exclusively for some years now and folks are really happy with it.

For years Denon used Audyssey which I thought was pretty darn good.
Anthem's ARC was solid as well but I think based on similar parameters.

I still haven't built these yet.
I have everything sitting in the closets.
6 x JBL 2226 15" woofers
6 x JBL Compression drivers 2" with upgraded Beryllium diaphragms
3 x Custom made crossovers
3 x custom 21" waveguides

Just no room to build or to place them.
My friend Ryan from Impulse Audio with all my gear who designed the x-overs and did all the testing for me.

Haven’t noticed an issue with bass. Denon still uses Audyssey, the Dirac was a paid upgrade for the A1H. Happy with it so far.

Running a pair of Butt Kicker LFE on a loveseat, but was thinking about building a HoverEZe platform:

it's actually a 7.2 receiver, I only have the fronts set up because I didn't want to run wire in the ceiling (I manually dialed in the fronts/center), but it will shake the house with the dual 12" klipsch subs.

Yeah, I was wondering the other day, who turned me onto JTR stuff.
Sold the 215RTs and got 212 RTs. Better fit with the subs and were easier to fit behind the screen.
That JTR is an absolute animal!

Killer! I thought you didn't have them anymore. Crazy those horns are flat to 400Hz.
You gonna make me fly up there and help you complete them?

I also wonder how musical they would be. Horns can be really hit/miss when it comes to dual duties.

This is a dated video from 2019 or so there have been some changes but gives a rough idea. It's getting fully redone (paint, chairs, sound deadening, new speakers & projector) in the near future.

Let's see...I've since moved those Monitor Audio to living room and the Aperion's back to theater because with young kids not using the theater as much. They're getting older now so it'll be time for a rebuild. The Monitor's are much more superior.

That ugly ass carpeting is gone already though lol.

That PC setup is gone I have a server now with NVIDIA Shield Pro running the show on my main rigs (so I can have lossless audio passthrough)

Probably a lot more I'm forgetting but yeah it's a fun watch if you like AV stuff and even subscribing to my buddy's channel. C6Z06 cameo at the end :D

I have a 10-year-old Samsung plasma 60 inch with a pioneer receiver hooked up to 25-year-old Bose speaker system that has a base cube and two small double speakers directional. The whole thing still sounds great.
Hard to beat those old Bose speakers.

Has anyone here auditioned Klipsch Jubilee? Only dealer within 50 miles wants a non-refundable deposit just to listen to them unless you're an established customer. They're also the ones that told me to **** off getting my RTI control system reprogrammed since I didn't buy it from them.

Sounds like they’ve already got two strikes against them, I wouldn’t give them a chance for a third. I like Klipsch, have a pair of LaScala’s, but never thought the company was high enough grade to sell anything requiring a deposit to receive an audition.

Nice! I've been following Youthman for years. I thought it was Cheapaudioman at first. He was just at Emotiva fest with us looking at new gear.

What projector are you looking at? I've been running the Sony VPL VW675 for the last few years and it's been rock solid with very good contrast/black levels.
I have been wanting to shoot our JVC new pjs against Sony but the prices are nutty. I'd like to look at the laser models but pricing has been silly. I'm not dropping $20k just to get the laser.

I haven't heard them but Klipsch has long been a great bang/buck speaker for theater duties.
For music, they always seemed a bit bright to me and the horns get a little "honky" in the mid-range but it's a matter of preference. Some folks really like the horns but many of them listen to jazz or classical where they seem to be a better fit.

Very few good, local dealers anymore. I think most folks that aren't audio nuts, would rather buy B to C and save a buck.

The really good dealers will have long standing relationships with their customers and offer free in home demos for a week or two.

I've been to other dealers that were annoyed that my speaker budget was only $20-25k

On the other hand, I know they have to be discerning about who they lend expensive gear to.

I love finding used audio gear that somebody else already took a beating on. Some good deals on gear if you're wiling to drive. I scored a $10k preamp from Pass Labs for $1k that was new in the box.
Sold that to help purchase new Pass mono block amps for the stereo room.

Currently sporting from 10 years ago this bad boy. Doesn't look bad I just know it can look better lol.

Seems they’ve toned down the horns with the current Heritage and RF-7 speakers, but I still don’t like the sound of the Cornwall or Heresy. If I had the space, I’d have a pair of LaScala AL5.
