Putting Uber and Lyft drivers out of work, I guess. And unlike the 'Johnny Cabs' on Mars, there will be no android drivers or steering wheels.

Meh. They can learn to code. Like all those people the MSM is laying off because nobody believes their crap anymore.

Too bad for uber drivers. I can see a company buying a fleet of these and using as taxi's.

I think a majority of the elderly will have problems with the technical side of ordering one up

where is the Roadster?

"Tesla CEO Elon Musk boasted about a 1.9-second 60-mph time and a 250-mph top speed when the Roadster concept was unveiled back in 2017—figures we very much hope will prove accurate when this sports car finally arrives."

2026 is when C+D says will be in line up for starting base $ of $200k to $300k

---- 9 yr's? So taxi in 2033?

Idiots who think AI is infallible? The people designing it know otherwise and are aware that there is an unavoidable error rate which they've decided to label an "acceptable error rate".

By the time we have fully autonomous cars we'll also have AI that's good enough to converse reliably with people. The AI assistant will know that Grandma has a doctor appointment at 11:00 and will both remind her about it (since she's getting forgetful these days) and summon the robotaxi.

If you've seen the OpenAI demo videos you'll see we're already pretty close to this if not there already.

Here in Los Angeles, Waymo has had driverless taxis for some time. It’s very weird seeing cars whizzing by with no driver, but so far, they seem safer than actual human drivers. They don’t ever rage, and I have yet to see an accident.

There are also robot food delivery carts everywhere here in LA… Another odd sight.

I did only once. Took a cab from the ATL airport to the Chevy dealership to pickup my C6.

Works for me! I am President of a local angel investment group. Elon said they are going to charge wirelessly, and one of our portfolio companies will be the provider. :hurray::hurray:

I love how the car illegally pulls up next to a red curb to pick up its passenger.

How long before some drunk/high stoners order some munchies and toss an M-80 or a lump of dogshit etc. into the bin after taking out their food? Look for the "Delivery Robot Challenge" to appear on TikTok very soon.

it was weird.I was in Phoenix in February, and noticed them all over town. Didn't know what they were.

Waiting in the hotel lobby for my shuttle back to the airport, one rolled through the parking lot. Asked the lady at the front desk, WTF are these things?
She said "Oh that's a Waymo, they're basically driverless Ubers". I was kind of intrigued. Then she added "I'd never ride in one, they're known to drive like assholes"....Which only intrigued me more. Had I been there longer, I'd have given one a try.

Phoenix has been a test sight for the Waymo for years now. They operate in certain areas. I was staying downtown at a nice hotel for a concert. After the concert we sat on the deck that overlooked a main street. Heard a bunch of honking, a Waymo was at an intersection and didn't know what to do once it stopped for a red light and it turned green. It just sat there and concert traffic was busy. The women finally got out of the Waymo and stepped onto the sidewalk and the Waymo just sat at the intersection for about 15 minutes. Cars were honking, driving around it, etc. It finally took off.

There's also a youtube video of a guy that had a STOP sign printed on his tshirt. He stood next to the curb, the Waymo cameras picked it up and stopped.

In the 70's the cabs in Istanbul were '55 Chevy's - apparently part of the foreign aid program back in the day or something.

And those drivers were maniacal and aggressive with the main safety equipment being the horn. Every taxi ride since has been mundane and uneventful...

Tesla should not be allowed to field another model until every Cybertruck is recalled for "pre-meditated, unprovoked visual assault"..
