I'm looking to get a pair of Nike+ running shoes, and was wondering if the Nike+ application has been a good tool to help with your running? Pros/cons of the application

I sell it. It's a good and inexpensive way to track your speed and distance. It's about 97% accurate if calibrated. It's not going to make you a faster runner by itself but can be a good tool to make it more interesting.

I had it with my old Ipod, but now that I have an Iphone, I use an app called LogMyRun, which tracks my progress and maps out my run. It's been great.

yeah I know it won't make me faster, just trying to get back into running and wondering if it was a good starter/motivator tool

I have an ipod touch, so don't have real-time tracking built into it, that was one reason i was thinking the Nike+

You run with your iPhone? I'm afraid I'll break mine. I run with a shitty Sansa Fuse I think I paid $20 for onn Woot.

I have an otterbox knockoff -- but I keep it in my pocket, it's been fine so far. I run mostly off pavement though.

Might be, might not be. If it makes it more exciting for you it'll be a good investment. I hate running with technology (never listen to music or anything while running) but we sell tons and people seem to like them.
One thing too- if you don't have Nike shoes get a Nathan Sensor Pocket adapter. Sensor Pocket | Nathan Sports (http://nathansports.com/our-products/runners-paks-music-carriers/music-carriers/sensor-pocket)
