Wasn't the very last one where Jerry had Dean on the show?
About 20 or so years ago.

Edit:
Googled. 2010 was the last.

Omg he was such a miserable old bastard, those telethons were painful to watch….

It was a tradition to watch as much as I could stay awake for when I was growing up. I got to sleep on rhe floor in the living room while it was on. I'd see acts spanning my whole life at the time. It used to be the only charity I donated to when I was older.

I miss watching it. I imagine it's all but forgotten.

He was never funny. Dean Martin was far more talented.

Trivia - do you know who gave Steven Spielberg and George Lucas director lessons (along with many others) early in their career in the 60s ?

You got it, Jerry Lewis !

I guess I'm the Lone Ranger on this one, but I thought Jerry Lewis was very funny.

The telethon was a nice tradition.
He was funny in some things and horrible in others, so about normal for most big actors.

He has the same forced, over-the-top schtick that Jim Carrey has. It's downright creepy. And had a HUGE ego just like Carrey. NOT funny.

Dean Martin was a class act.

Jerry Lewis did the same slapstick shit in the 40's 50's and until he died. He got old towards the end of Martin and Lewis. Dean Martin was a good actor, singer, had two of the greatest T.V shows in the Dean Martin show and the Dean Martin roast.

Agree, Lewis was funny when I was 12, goofy when I was 20 and creepy to me now.... Apparently he was fanatical about rehearsals, retakes and a perfectionist and Martin would waltz on stage, do his thing, and leave.

A constant source of friction between them... HOWEVER, I was addicted to Abbot & Costello and the Bob Hope/Bing Crosby "Road To....xxxx" pictures.
Moderate amount of slapstick and straight up comedic fun.

Both Hope and Martin were both prize fighters BTW, Martin's hands were so broken up he tried not to show them much on film.

Again HOWEVER Lewis's charity was magnanimous, as was Paul Newman, Danny Thomas (St. Jude's), etc. Not like that flaming dick Elon Musk who puts out a poll to see which charity his audience thinks is deserving of his largess - just another attention grab. He is emotionally about 14 years old.

You must really hate the Three Stooges and Laurel and Hardy...and Abbot and Costello. :Jeff '79:

So was Bill Cosby...I edited jello commercials and the crew on set said he always made the kids cry for one reason or another.

No, I like them. Classic stuff. Wheeler and Woolsey too.

But I don't like Will Ferrell and never understood why people thought Friends was any good.

Kudrow is damn funny, many moments by her were the funniest on the show.
LeBlanc was her equal, no one ever moved in ducks as roommates.

The other four were mediocre, but Phoebe and Joey were GOLD!!

I'm ok with Will Ferrell. It's "stupid" humor. Friends I could take it or leave it. It was better before they started any relationships.

I think information about celebrity's personal lives detracts from what they do. Curly from the Three Stooges was a womanizer and an alcoholic, I didn't know or care when I was watching them. Matthew Perry was a mess and I didn't know or care. Now when I watch Friends, I look for signs of him being fkd up.

Lou Costello had issues. Laurel and Hardy had conflicts. Charley Chaplin's life was all over the place. I'd rather enjoy what they do, than who they were.

I do. I still think Bill Cosby is funny. Too bad he's a monster, but I still like his work. I've known about the stooges and Abbot and Costello's issues for 40 years or more, not an issue. I just genuinely don't like Jerry Lewis or Jim Carrey or Will Ferrell. They rub me the wrong way. Same reason I don't like Rush or Journey for music----the vocalist in each band make my skin crawl. Irritating.

Ferrell is talent-less, the only thing he did well was a George Bush imitation, his dead pan face and dry delivery is just humorless. Carey did his best work in his early days on late night comedy shows and everything subsequent is pretty much garbage.

Fire Marshall Bill was hilarious 34 years ago on In Living Color. After that, not so much.

Carey is a full tilt douche rocket, but he does great impersonations and parody characters. I think his Clint Eastwood is great.

And left his son's out of his hundreds of millions of dollar's when he died. A one dimensional comedian/Actor that didn't' change his act for over 50 years.

I will say one thing for Carey, like Jay Leno he started with nothing, no money, barely making it and "went for it" and it worked out. I'll always give some credit for that.

I liked him... right up until Trump was elected and he was heavily damaged by TDS. Actually, my cousin and his daughter are (or were) very close friends in school.

He was apparently worth $50M when he died and all the sons were all from a previous marriage. He left his inheritance to his second wife and adopted daughter.
