Doug could have at least waited until Yadkin came back to leave. Now we have this awkward gap.
That's IF Yadkin returns. I hope he does, of course. But he might have had enough. :yaddy:

How many of you knew that Peter Frampton came from Humble Pie?
I did. As an SF Bay Area guy who lived there in the '60's and '70's, a lot of those bands came through. Went to see them in SF in the early '80's.
I liked Frampton better before he 'came alive'.

The small Faces. Rod Stewart was also in that band. Which IMO was better than the later stuff he did except for maybe Maggie May.
They were all little guys, hence the name. I think Rod Stewart was the tallest at 5-10 or so. All the others were 5-8 or much less.
No 6-2 pissed off veterans in that group.

I didn't mention my CDs :D
Short diversion. During the 80's, a good friend of mine owned a mobile recording studio and was very much "up" on state of the art audio at that time. We used to do Winter CES as Vegas every year and he turned me onto CDs before many people ever heard of them. Somewhere in my collection, I have one that has absolutely no limiting on it whatsoever and it will make any consumer quality sound system buckle and cry like a pierced Leftist when Trump won in 2016.
So... most of my 80's (and later) rock stuff is on CD

How many here know Jimi Hendrix was kicked out of the army for masturbating while on duty, among other things.
Before Hendrix was 19 years old, law authorities had twice caught him riding in stolen cars. Given a choice between prison or joining the Army, he chose the latter and enlisted on May 31, 1961. After completing eight weeks of basic training at Fort Ord, California, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.[ He arrived on November 8, and soon afterward he wrote to his father: "There's nothing but physical training and harassment here for two weeks, then when you go to jump school ... you get hell. They work you to death, fussing and fighting.
Hendrix completed his paratrooper training and, on January 11, 1962, Major General Charles W. G. Rich awarded him the prestigious Screaming Eagles patch. By February, his personal conduct had begun to draw criticism from his superiors. They labeled him an unqualified marksman and often caught him napping while on duty and failing to report for bed checks. On May 24, Hendrix's platoon sergeant, James C. Spears, filed a report in which he stated: "He has no interest whatsoever in the Army ... It is my opinion that Private Hendrix will never come up to the standards required of a soldier. I feel that the military service will benefit if he is discharged as soon as possible. On June 29, 1962, Hendrix was granted a general discharge under honorable conditions. Hendrix later spoke of his dislike of the army and that he had received a medical discharge after breaking his ankle during his 26th parachute jumping but no Army records have been produced that indicate that he received or was discharged for any injuries.

My SO saw Hendrix live in NY. She's 5 years my senior. Her older brother was at Woodstock.
I was dragged along to the Summer of Love in San Francisco in 1967 as a kid, and dragged to many Peace marches in SF and Berkeley from 1967-71.
Saw many bands of that era---Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Santana, ]efferson Airplane, etc.
As an adult, I'm glad to have seen John Lee Hooker, Lionel Hampton, Tony Joe White, Paul Butterfield, JJ Cale, John Fogarty, Carlos Santana, Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton, The Kinks, AC/DC with Bon Scott, etc. etc.
And acting like a homosexual.
Well, thank goodness he wasn't acting AS a homosexual. :seasix:

As I heard it, they needed more than the 3 of them for their live shows (Stills pretty much played many guitar parts in the studio) so Winwood was recruited to help with those. This was pre-Young. And they weren't enamored with Young due to his reputation of being too self-centered and unreliable in showing up for work..
I can't see either Harrison nor Clapton as a good fit for them at that time. Guess things work out the way they need to, eh?

Another interesting George Harrison fact. When I was doing work for him on his estate in Maui, I was under the house installing a wireless telephone system as he lived out in a place called Nahiku (on the way to Hana) and there was no phone service. Actually he was more concerned about being able to send and receive faxes more than using the phone for voice.
Anyway, there was quite a bit of headroom under the main house and he was very curious as to how I was installing the equipment so he essentially looked over my shoulder as I did some of the needed wiring.
I was somewhat surprised he was interested in those kind of details but there you are.....

It’s one of those songs that was made for her. I believe Carol King wrote the song. I’m certain you can confirm.
A lot of classic songs are like that. Sometimes the song and artist are just meant for each other.
I can listen to Roberta Flack sing The First Time today and it still touches the emotions as it did 50+ years ago.
It’s one of those songs that was made for her. I believe Carol King wrote the song. I’m certain you can confirm.

:iagree: 100%. Goosebump stuff.
I'll add: Eastern European women are the most beautiful women on the planet. I've known this since I developed a crush on Natalie Wood at age 4.

Gotta admit I had to look that up.
Was written by a Brit in 1957
IF today's under-50 black population listened to the early '70's Staple Singers hit Respect Yourself they could learn a valuable lesson.

Ok thanks.
I recall she wrote a lot of popular songs for other artists.
Maybe it was Aretha. :island14:

Oh yea.
(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin
Will You Love Me Tomorrow? - The Shirelles
You've Got A Friend - James Taylor
The Locomotion - Little Eva
Up On The Roof - The Drifters
One Fine Day - The Chiffons
And her own album Tapestry is considered one of the best albums of all time.
She is quite the powerhouse!

Yep. Early 1970’s So much great stuff there.
Of course it also gave us Donnie Osmond with “Puppy Love”. :Jeff '79:
And Muskrat Love. :Sexy:
Indeed. I was being lazy with the keystrokes.
One of the most beautiful songs ever. IMO.
Many good ones, yes. None better than Miss Linda.
Interesting fact, the Eagles started out as her back up band.

Angelic voice, a true beauty. I believe this was recorded shortly before she hit her head, or whatever happened to cause her to start recording songs in Spanish. A tragedy.

I can still hear echoes from the implosion.

What about him?
Velvet Underground? Sweet Jane?
And Walk on the Wild Side of course. He was androgenous before Bowie made it cool. Also was an excellent writer/poet.

Not the best singer in the world and does not give me goose bumps...but I do remember likening it as a five year old with headphones.
