15 years of ownership on this one. I've never kept anything -car or bike- this long.

I’m not putting her on the back of this thing. I like her.

I’m not a bike guy, but I’ve never got the ape hanger ride…is that not uncomfortable? It’s totally cool looking though. And as usual, your photography is impeccable.

I think the best description of ape-hangers I ever read goes something like this; Remember when you were a kid playing little league baseball? You’d walk up to the backstop fence, grab it, and call the batter a broken ladder. You almost always grab at shoulder height - maybe even higher. That’s kinda like apes.

Nice, but I was never a fan of the ape-hanger handlebars, never felt I had enough control with them, same with the old extended front forks look. An acquired taste I guess.

I havent had my bike out since I moved a month ago. Gotta blow the dust off it! I always liked the look of Apes, but like others here thought they would be uncomfortable....Wrong!! I will never own another bike without them! :seasix:

2 of my previous harleys had wide drag bars, the apes were fun for cruising but not as fun in the twisties...just my .02

Classic mistake with this bike, the angle of the bars are wrong. They should match the rake of the front end. Anything forward or backwards makes it look out of balance. An easy fix and you will immediately see an improvement. :seasix:

I set them where they’re comfortable. Imagine that.

Look up Carlini Gangster apes. What you’re proposing is impossible.

Beautiful soft tail Thomas. And as mentioned, your photo skills are excellent.
I miss the idea of having another Harley, but don’t really want another. I feel the same way about a boat.

I did just that but don’t understand what you are trying to point me to?

Maybe you are saying they are too long/high to be able to pull them back to be safe? Just my opinion but they look weird pitched forward like that.
Here is an example of what I am talking about. The below pictures are of my old 1972 custom Sportster/chopper from the mid 70s. See how the handlebars, 8” over extended front end and sissy bar/seat are all at the same angle? Even though they were buckhorn bars you get the idea.

Keeps your pits aerated, dry, and odor free!

Boats were never my thing. My parents have had one since I was a newborn. I like them don't get me wrong but owning one holds no interest.

One exception. A bucket list item for me is a ride in one of those offshore power boats. You know, one of these mofos. :yesnod:

I bought this Heritage new in 1988, sold it in 2015. It was the longest, by far, I've ever owned any vehicle -- 27 years. It went through three paint jobs, mildly souped ("modded" for you young guys) and updated the transmission to a newer stronger input shaft.

Although I never predicted this would happen, I was done with motorcycles in 2015 at age 65, had 5 of them since 1970. The thought of hitting the pavement in my 60s, especially when most of my neck is titanium, was a bit much. I didn't want to be "Too soon old, too late smart."

Hadn't been on a nice night ride in years -- too many deer around. :(
