Our 50th in 18 months - yeah a long time - she said yesterday that I might just work out and she's considering taking me off probation...

Fingers crossed !

She says after all that time I only have two faults: I don't listen so well and.....errr.....something else.

My oldest sis and BIL will celebrate 64 years of marriage in September.

A lunch buddy of 34 years died a month ago; I had lunch with his widow Thursday -- they were married for 67 years. He was 89, she is 88.

In recent years he would make this comment: "It's tough to get out of your eighties," and then chuckle. He would have been 90 in November, he had 5 months to go but didn't make it. :(

Sorry to report that our evening didn't quite go as well as I'd hoped or expected....

We had a wonderful time getting ready and really excited to try out this restaurant. The Inn has terrific reviews and it's a super romantic site. Nice old property, the main building was built in 1750.

As Swanny said it was very late for us to sit down for dinner, our normal dinner time is 6:00pm. We were finally seated at closer to 8:30. Great service along with the working owners that conducted a flawless presentation.

It was a delicious but simple menu with three courses, apetizer, 1st, and entree. I hadn't eaten a huge breakfast or lunch, trying not to fill my stomach. I'll admit I did have a few beers throughout the day. Everything started off just fine, we both had our appetizers and then the 1st.

Well, that was it, I was unable to eat another bite. Rarely, and it hasn't occurred for a very long time, I get full, food gets stuck in my esophagus and can't get food to travel through....Barretts and hernia.....So embarrassing for me...Having to explain to the waitress why.....they of course think it's the food but no.

Mrs. Rickles now had to sit and eat by herself, I had my entree packed to go.

Yeah, yeah, I know, didn't read, don't care, blah blah, but I really feel sorry for ruining the evening for Mrs. Rickles......:sadangel:

Edit: Surprize ending, our son had prepaid for the entire meal!

Tried to take one bite of the entree but couldn’t go further.

No way will heating up leftovers, match freshly served but I’ll be dining on the lamb tenderloin alone, as Mrs R does care for it.

This was one dish I finished!

Not to be a downer, but I can see in my 44 year old daughter's eyes the fact she knows we'll be gone one day (both in our 70s); she tries to spend every possible hour with us and its heart-warming but poignant. (She doesn't realize my side of the family goes well into their 90s!)
