It’s been very hot here so I don’t get to take the car out as much as I want but when I do I have to say the new suspension amd massive Mickey Thompsons really make a huge difference. The suspension was going on 20 years old and the rear trailing arms were original. I think new trailing arms, bearings, diff rebuild, ujoints, front control arms, springs, all bushings really tightened things up.
I also disassembled the carb (BG Demon 650), cleaned it and reset it to factory settings. Bought a new timing light and dialed that shit in. The car is fast. It was never quite as powerful as I felt it should be. It just needed tuning.
The best part is the tires are grippy as shit. I can kick out the rear if I work it hard but no more accidental slipping. The car squats down and launches now.
The stance is better too. I still have a paint crack that needs fixing but it’s too hot now to spray so I wait. The painter is going to fix it on the house.

Sweet! Suspension can make a huge difference in how it hooks too. Glad it's coming together. What is it? I lurk here and the other place - haven't caught what you've been working on...
This thread is like the classic days of radio. No pictures, so we just have to use our imaginations.

He’s got a C2. IIRC it’s a ‘64 or maybe a ‘66.
I think it’s on an ‘82 chassis. I don’t think it’s a stock engine.

On board except for the BG Demon carb, there are better alternatives...
Maybe they're better now, but for a while they were total crap...
Good choice for tires.
Love mine.

He has a nice C-2. There have been pictures before. It's a testament to his determination that he's not only kept it running, but improved it, considering everything going on with him.
I think it's great he's able to take that figurative and literal victory lap in that Vette.

I had the Levi’s addition CJ7 Jeep Renegade with a 304 V8, car 4 speed, bigger cam and 4 barrel. It ran strong for that little engine and looked great. The Levi’s interior was an option for many AMCs back in the day. I sold them new from 1968-1974.

The car is a 64 vert that I bought 25 years ago at a swap meet. Even though I had it inspected, the frame was almost rotted into two pieces. It came with a 1970 LT1, 65 M22, and sixties era Torque Thrusts.
An electrical fire under the hood (minor) started an 18 month frame of restomod. I spent three of those months adapting an 81 chassis - built a frame jig with 1/2” steel planar surface and brought every measurement back to factor specs, moved all the body mounts, added a manual clutch mount, reinforced the welds, acid dipped, gusseted and epoxy inside and out.
I didn’t want to pay for repro wiring so I designed my own wiring (and drawings) using Painless Wiring. Everything works. Added power disc brakes. Wiped the cam. Built the engine again. Shop wiped the casting number off the block destroying its value (only 2500 or so made) so I built it with hydraulic roller everything, kept all the LT1 parts (rods, crank, block, intake, heads, windage tray) had it ported and polished. Lowered compression to 10:1 to run on premium and bumped the cam to bring back power. Dyno’d at 410 HP at the crank.
Broke the base of the original Holly 850, Lars said go down to 650. Contrary to Frankie, the Demon has been an amazing carb. Ditched the points for pertronix Igniter II with Mallory billet dizzy. Koni racing shocks. Composite rear spring, Grand touring front springs. 1” 1/4l anti sway up front, 3/4” rear (yes, too much).
Stripped eight paint jobs off the car. The test fitting of the bare chassis fit perfectly the first time. I then did the body work, bringing the sharp edges back and painted it. Twice. (The first time didn’t go well). It got stripped to the fiberglass again five years ago, dozens of fiberglass repairs and repainted.
After it came back from paint I replaced the entire interior again, replaced every bulb with LEDs, Detroit Speed headlights, cluster refresh, new suspension, new wheels and tires, factory side exhaust, stock steering wheel.
Revolved all windows, windshield, felts, tracks, stainless trim, dash, weather stripping, regulators, and replaced door components and polished stainless. New emblems, tail lights, all new headlight hardware.
Billet tie rods front and rear, shock mounts, bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, springs, bushings, factory door panels. Redid brake lines and all new rear drum brakes and ebrake.
Brand new torque thrusts with different offset to fit tires. Functional hin spoiler from 69 Camaro sectioned 12” to fit. Dewitt’s aluminum radiator. All new power steering hardware.
Redid upholstery (restretched).
Every part on the car is new or rebuilt. I did everything myself except the last paint job. Even rebuilt the transmission. The only thing I didn’t do was the convertible top. It is original and I barely use it.
I replaced all the gauges with Autometer, retrofitted into the cluster. The original ones didn’t work. I built a custom fuel sending unit. Braided stainless throughout.
And some shit I probably forgot. Yes, I’m upside down on the car. No I don’t give a shit.

Makes no difference if you are upside down in it or not. You have what you want and know every part of the car. You are the only one you have to satisfy. That was a TON of work and my hat is off to you, it looks and sounds great. I can only imagine what you have in it withou counting YOUR labor. :yesnod:

I offered him 6k for it and he almost laughed at me, so I figured I'd keep an eye on it and see what happens. It's 4 hours away from me but he's sent me video of it running and driving, along with a cold start video
