Reminds me of the Plymouth Valiant my old roommate used to have.

I loved those cars - really wanted one in my youth but I was poor ... I like the swinger 340 nice spunky lite weight comfy too.
What's under the hood?
Guessing a 318?

A really nice, well preserved, awful car.

Wouldn't command any respect in the High School Lot in the early 80's
Being a 2 door gives it some bit of " Ok " factor
But all those Multiple Shades of Greens :barnbabe: Like over 50 Shades of 'em

Pretty sparse and utilitarian, wife had a '72 Duster when we got married.
I swear you could lay awake at night and hear it rusting in the driveway.

Same here but hers was lime green, she'd bought brand new, within just a few months she had it painted brown. :yesnod:
Being a two door, I can see this one having an engine swap to a 440 six pac, huge rear tires, lifted ass end and dice on the mirror!

It's just as ugly as the day it was created. I've never been much of a MOPAR guy. Their styling has always sucked in my opinion.

The 225 Leaning Tower of Power had 145 HP and a lot of torque. Almost as good as the stock, wheezy 2bbl 318 V8 that year. Kind of like Ford having a 90HP straight 6 in the '40's and a 100HP V8. Not a lot of performance difference. Chrysler drivetrains of this era are bulletproof, but the rest of the cars were cheesy. This car has had the seats redone in the wrong green...the real green is seen on the door panels and headrests.
This would be a great car for basic transportation, IMO.
Have a friend who paid $1000 in 1983 for a '70 Swinger 340 Scat Pak car in day glo green with a 3.91 rear and that car would run with my 428 GTO all the way to third gear, when the Goat would top-end him. He still misses that car. I still have the goat. The Swinger add in the era was "6,000 RPM for less than 3,000 dollars."

My Dad bought one used in the late 70's. It was a POS

I sold a lot of Swingers new in the late 60s/early 70s with 225/318/340s. They were great cars. A compact back then with more room than most full size cars today. They road well and handled great with their torsion bar suspension. A 340 Dart with3.91 gears were a force to be reaconed with for any intermediate with a larger hipo engine.

I'd rather have Koko's Eagle.
I'll think about it, but actually saving up for a Pacer.

I'd offer $3000 if there wasn't much rust, running well, and stopping straight. Maybe a little more if it had working AC.
The demand for 6 cylinder cars that have the lower compression of the '71-'74 cars is pretty light.

Exactly. And here in CA, they did not rust and lasted for decades. I remember in 1985 I raced a stock '73 Swinger with the 318 2bbl from a dead stop against my stepbrother in his brand new '85 Z-28 HO 4 speed and I blew his doors off. He had no idea I was loading the converter as the cross street light was turning yellow......and boy was he embarrassed.

Without any type of in depth analysis of this car, it’s clearly been painted …the color is close to but the metallic is somewhat less than bass boat…..
I only found it interesting as I’ve not seen one for a very long time. I was a busboy at o’Malley Tavern 1.75 per hour.

If it is as rust free as the inadequate pics show I bet he gets close to asking. It would make a killer "sleeper" if you left the paint and interior stock and added some HP... MoHo 440s bolt in with no cutting required, or stroke a 400 to 500CI and make 500 ponies for reasonable outlay.

I see comments like this and am a bit puzzled. Why does anyone want a sleeper?

I never ever got the appeal of a sleeper. Who cares if a bunch of people are fooled by your rust bucket of a 68 Buick Skylark? Dumping a crapload of money into a drive train for a car that is still not worth $1500 to most buyers is beyond me.

A 1985 Camaro had a 5 speed not a 4 speed. I know, I owned a 1985 H.O with a 5 speed. Just letting you know.....

Yes, I made a mistake. It was a 5 speed manual, which, at the time, was a rare thing in new Camaros and made the car a big deal.
Thanks for pointing that out!!
Anybody remember the Chevy Citation X-11 with the domed hood and the 5 speed manual??

It is an old timer thing when people used to street race for money. Nobody wanted to show what they had.

Eggs Ackley. A '50's--'70's thing, mostly. It was still happening when I was in HS in the '70's. Lots of 396 Chevelles with 454's and 383 Roadrunner with 440's, etc. I was running a '65 GTO with a 428 that looked like a 389. (early '80's)

It's also this old timer's thing... stomping Vettes, Mustangs and Challengers in the stop light drags. 0-50 then let off and laugh!
