View Full Version : What song is it you want to hear?
Freebird
The ice maker in the fridge dropping fresh ice.
Big shout out to the Alabama linemen that restored our power! Our little burg is buzzing with a flurry of out of state utility trucks. People are upset with the local power company, much of it because once the out of state crews actually arrived and staged, those crews were sitting all day in staging areas waiting to be dispatched, which was frustrating. Once they actually leave the staging areas, though they're kicking ass.
And I get it, the whole system has to be inspected first, to see where the problems are, where to send out the repair crews, and what they need to do. There's an order that has to be followed. There's also the fact that this was the biggest outage in Houston's history. Ike was a more devastating storm in terms of damage, but this one had more folks lose power.
I think the biggest issue is, no one expected the storm to make a direct hit on Houston, and that seems to have included the various electric utilities. Add weather forecasters to the list of people I will never trust again.

Glad you got power back.
That's what my generator is for. I can run our fridge, a TV (OTA antenna), the internet (if operational and if needed) and lights off of it.
In this day an age with weeks to prepare knowing a storm is on it's way there is no reason not to be prepared. Don't rely on anyone but yourself is my motto.

It takes a long time to make damn sure the lines are dead, and not being backfed by some clown with a suicide cord jacking in at the mains.

This song was kick ass then and it remains so now. So does 'Bang a Gong' by T. Rex, same year. As well as Rock On by Billy Essex.
I love Skynard, but if I never hear 'Free Bird' or "Simple Man" again, I'm fine with it. Hearing them both 7 million times was quite enough.
