I grew up with a boxer who was a nut, as boxers are. He understood a lot of words, especially "cats" which would have him charging out of the house flying down the steps into the garden looking for them.

One word that had the opposite effect was "bath".:funny:
He'd go sit on his bed, and dig his toes in. I couldn't shift him, nor could my mother. My Dad had to lift him bodily up the stairs into the bathroom where he looked folorn through the whole process, but cheered up afterwards.

I wash my kids out side on the patio using the garden hose and spray nozzle. They behave just as well as that GSD. :angel:

Ugh...seen my daughter try it with her dog.
It was like wrestling with a pig, you get dirty as all hell and the pig loves it.

After an injury, I had to use a bath chair in the shower for a couple of months, so obviously bathing the dog with a hose on the back patio wasn't an option. I discovered that bringing the dog into the shower was the answer. By the time I washed myself, the dog was pre-rinsed. So it was a simple matter of shampooing the dog, then getting out, drying off, then opening the shower and toweling off the dog, who had already done several of the doggie shakes to fling water everywhere.

Worked fairly well, except he would then zoom down the stairs and often times wipe out on the slick, ceramic tile floor. Never phased him, though, he thought it was fun to go skidding on the floor.
