This guy was next to me at a light and blew my mind. Is it still called curb rash if a chunk of the rim is just gone? How the Hell does the tire stay seated?

I've seen large pieces of rim missing and tire still hold air.
If that was up north I'd call it pothole syndrome.

That's not curb rash. That's a curb ulcer.

Ran up on a curb texting his man-bun wearing "partner" complaining that Bragg hasn't convicted Trump already while driving to the vegan grocery store as he is putting on eyeliner and drinking a Bud Lite - that about cover it ?

That's also $400 to include mounting and balancing. :seasix:

That's got to be pothole damage. I'm surprised the bead is still holding, especially considering how heavy the car must be. Hopefully the owner has plans to replace that wheel.

I can't see why the sidewall is in decent shape.....how in HELL that rim get that messed up and the tire avoid execution???

I think the tires are held onto the rim by electrical current, not bead settings / seatings?!?!?

The owner could have replaced the tire as a stop-gap, while waiting on another wheel?

Teslas don't need tires. They float around on a cloud of smug.

Apparently my son isn’t a typical Tesla driver. He’s not even vegan or anything.

It’s just a damn car. Stuff happens.

I don't think that there is a stereotypical Tesla driver. Tesla uses wide wheels and the rubber of the tires doesn't stick out past the edge of the wheel causing more curb damage than on many other cars. I have successfully avoided curbs for 36k miles so far in mine.

That car has atlas tires, atlas are made in china, not original equipment, so was, as stated, probably replaced when damage occurred.

With that said, who the hell puts shit chinese tires on a great vehicle like a telsa??

Hard to believe a tire shop would install a new tire on that rim.

I doubt that they would. I assume that the tire was on the rim already when the incident happened.

I figured someone here did. :D

It’s just our collective experience, just like all teslas are owned by ladies or lady boys. Simply not true.

Maybe not, those cars weigh twice as much as a normal car. That's a lot of force.

My wife was a dark Auburn before the gray set in. I swear I could sense she was upset about something as soon as I walked in the house by the color of her hair.

Maybe it was the light where she was standing but it seems when it appeared to be more of a traditional red, if something bad had not happened yet, it was about to.

Not in the least my friend, not in the least. As a great American philosopher from the 1950s (60s?) used to say, I yam what I yam. :D

No real harm or offense intended. :nono: But you already know that. I miss the old days.

Hard to believe a tire shop would install a new tire on that rim.

I can tell you straight up my local Discount Tire wouldn't do it, of course some tobacco-chewing Bubba at the local combo Soap and Suds Laundromat/Tire Center/Bait Shop might...
