Looking into it, it appears Jataveon Dashawn Hall was in the process of trying to kick the kid to death after the first strike, but left when he found out he was bleeding. Also, not mentioned, is the fact that Dashawn walked out of the hospital shortly afterward to freedom. And there is no follow up.

So apparently he got away with it and is out there still. I could find no current info on him. So he's dead or in the wind.
