The 85-year-old mother of a disabled son committed a "justifiable homicide" in Idaho when she shot an armed burglar who snuck into her home and threatened to "kill her multiple times," a county prosecutor said.

Christine Jenneiahn presented "one of the most heroic acts of self-preservation" that Bingham County prosecutor Ryan Jolley has ever heard of when she shot and killed 39-year-old Derek Condon, according to an incident review written Tuesday.

At some point when Condon was downstairs, Jenneiahn dragged the chair she was handcuffed to into her bedroom and got her .357 Magnum from under her pillow, according to the incident review. The mother then returned to the living room and hid the gun between the armrest and cushion of a couch next to where she was seated and waited to see what Condon did, the legal document continued.

Read several versions of the story and one said the perp returned fire and emptied his 9mm and hit the poor woman several times. I'm trying to imagine someone able to do that after taking two lethal .357 rounds....

I read the same thing, only the article I read said that she laid there for 10 hours until her handicapped son finally brought her a phone.:yesnod:

From what I saw it said the woman had a .357, no one said if that was what was in the gun. It very easily could have been loaded with .38s. (Course that could go from mild to wild!)

Still she did a dam good job under the circumstances! One of our neighbors up here at the lake is about 82 lives alone and she has a .38 loaded with wadcutters. At close range it will do the job if called upon!

Fair point, it could have been .38 target loads... I don't sport anything but Hornady Critical Defense in my cordless, hole punchers.

My departed 90 year old grandmother (still doing fashion modeling for oldsters) was mugged in the streets of Pittsburgh by two thugs and I remember her saying if she could have gotten to the Black Jack she carried in her purse daily she'd have "laid them out".
