Anybody here into 3D printing? Wife has said she "needs one", who am I to argue! Understand basic concept, but looking for links, videos, book suggestions. Also, dollar limit of $1000.00 for printer. Saw one that prints, etches and routes for just over a grand. No idea which direction to go this early in the interest
Wife wants to print Orchid Pots and Garden Gnomes so far. I want 3D peices to make molds for sand casting some knife and other parts ....TIA.

mom and i do a bit of printing, laser engraving and routing/CNC.
You definitely want one with a self leveling/calibrating tray and wot not. For laser etching, printing, burning, and cutting you don't want anything less than 40w.
Care to post up a link to the machine you found.

I use an Ender 3.
Cheap enough and easy to use.
Hard part is modeling the parts up.
I use Cura.
My son is on his second. I know next to nothing about them. The new one can make parts that move relative to each other but can't be disassembled.

thats one model we have and it works well for small stuff.
We have this one and it's absolutely massive. If you have the $$$ you'll eventually want this one.

I have a Prusa and have made a ton of stuff on it. I would also consider a Bambu Labs.
