In Texas, anyway, oversize loads are required to be permitted. Part of the permit process is, the driver giving a state dispatcher the start and stop point, and the state prescribes the route the driver has to take.

You can see by the trailer tires that the trailer was too close to the
shoulder. Stupid piiot car should have closed the road so that the trucker
coulg have used the whole road to turn. The trucker is stupid for not
taking control of the movement. If the pilot car was not doing his
job I would make him do the job. Both pilot car and trucker are very
inexperienced.

Up by me a few years ago a very looooooooong steel beam was being transported to the new 7/8 mile long bridge site. It was the last beams of many but for reasons hard to fathom the driver put this last beam and trailer in the culvert on the road side. Everybody made it but him and I heard he was terminated quite fast.

I drove CDL for years and have taken a few trucks past this spot in the past and wonder just what the hell was he thinking as it was not that bad of a spot.
