Either/or. I enjoy watching old concert footage at night when I'm settling down for the day, that's my context on these.
I saw SRV live with outstanding up front seats. Small outdoor waterfront summer venue Baltimore harbor. Has to be my personal choice. (I shook Stevie’s hand so there’s that)

I do the same thing. YouTube is entertainment god nowadays.
Another notable was The Police live in a small venue I think in Georgetown DC. Early years. Only a few thousand people. Sting on the upright bass. Pretty freaking cool.

He was one of the greatest. I don't think I've ever met a musician/singer. The closest I've come was here in SLC a few years back. I was at USANA, a local outdoor venue, and they have the dressing trailers over by the handicap parking just inside the chain link fence. I just had some knee work done so I was parked there and walked within a few feet of the trailer door that the Wilson sisters were coming out. Made eye contact with Nancy, mouthed hi and she waved and said hi. I died a little that night.

For the record, I didn’t get to meet Stevie. Just had the opportunity to shake his hand at the end of the show. I remember him being a smaller guy and I’m no giant. :Jeff '79:

I'm not a huge DMB fan, but I do love a few of their songs, my favorite being #41. It's awesome when performed live, but this one takes the cake because they were with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and it's a half hour of awesomeness.

Best I've seen was probably Ray Charles, 1982 at the Fine Arts Center, UMass Amherst. Very classy. That man was a very fine gentleman and extremely talented.
Next was Bruce Springsteen, late '75 I don't remember exactly, at the Music Hall in Boston (now the Wang Theater). Fairly small audience, maybe 3000 or so. The next year he was playing arenas. I saw him several times at larger venues and each was very good.

Maybe not the best I've seen, but the most memorable. Kansas played in 1977 at the Iowa State Fair. Late afternoon, early evening event. The stage was set up just off the front straight away of the dirt race track.
It was a cloudy and breezy most of the day, and a storm was brewing. By the time they got to sing "Dust in The Wind", I thought the entire stage and speakers were coming down, it was so windy and dusty, you could barely see them, and they kept playing.
Saw the Eagles a few weeks ago, pretty good show.

All the best live performances I've seen were before the 'captured on video--cell phone' shit.
Buffalo Springfield. Jefferson Airplane. Grateful Dead. ZZ Top. John Fogarty. AC/DC with Bon Scott. JJ Cale. Tony Joe White. Lionel Hampton. John Lee Hooker. Tony Joe White. Paul Butterfield (solo, in a Chinese restaurant!) and on and on. One of the few perks of growing up and living in the SF Bay Area from the '60's through the late '90's.

Being a bit older than many on here I have to say the free concert in Central Park NYC by Simon and Garfunkel in 1981 has to rank right up there. They had a big bunch of people there and they would have had as many if you had to pay to be there!

Ed Cassady, the drummer for Spirit started out in 1937 as a professional musician for the big band acts at that time. The kit he played in Spirit dated to that time. Also, pushing 50, he was kidded for his advanced age. Mr. Skin. He was a class act in a class act, IMO. Always loved the band, and always knew that Led Zeppelin ripped off their song Taurus for Stairway to Heaven. **** Lead Zeppelin, and FJB.
The band is featured in the 1969 movie "Model Shop" starring Gary Lockwood.
Model Shop was used by Quentin Tarantino as a reference when he made the movie "Once upon a time in Hollywood".
Now, back to Big Bob and Yadkin.
