The construction depth of European roads is about twice the thickness here in the US, so potholes are far less likely to occur. The surfaces are smoother because they use steel rails to fine grade them, whereas in the US we use string.

But most importantly, getting a driver's license requires extensive testing, not a Mickey Mouse rubber stamp like here. Passing lane etiquette is strictly observed. :yesnod:

I have two speedways within easy access of my home, Sawgrass Expressway and FL Turnpike.
I have been EVERYWHERE man, and those two roads are the finest high-speed public roads on the planet, if you are going only 100 MPH you will be lapped!!

The best road that I've been on was one of the A roads in Ireland. Smoother than the Autobahn, but with restricted speeds and cameras everywhere.
