I would choose to turn around and walk out the door. Too many large Televisions=too much ****ing noise. Why do people think you need to be bombarded with music, videos, and constant electronic diversions? Plus, the place looks cold and trendy. Pass.

The bar is thick stainless steel, bathroom is all stainless and immaculate. I like it a lot.

some locals are getting smart; no TV sound and they turn on Closed Captioning.

I agree with that. If you want to watch TV, stay the **** home. If you want to go to a bar to socialize, then do it -- and you can't if you're glued to some mindless nonsense on TV.

And I don't get why (mostly young) people constantly have ear buds or headphones on, out in public, walking around like that. I don't get it.

My buddy's kid, who is 45, always has headphones on for phone calls or whatever else, I'm not even sure and don't care. He'd call me and be banging with a ****ing hammer or making some other racket and I can't even hear him. The "noise" overwhelms his voice.

I bitched at him all the time, and I think his old man did too, so it's been better recently.

I'm with GTOguy. I want peeling linoleum, a battle scarred bar livened up with cigarette burns, a fat, sweaty guy named Al wearing a dirty t-shirt behind the bar, a row of name brand bottles that's all bullshit because Al fills them with hooch with a funnel he keeps behind the bar next to his baseball bat, the mirror behind the bottles is cracked and dirty and is still decorated for Christmas 1982 because Al doesn't see the use of taking the stuff down. There should be three or four booths (for the ladies), but they had better have cracked Naugahyde benches. The phone booth in the dark, narrow hall leading to the restrooms hasn't had a phone on the end of the cord since Reagan was in office. The restrooms are the type where you do what needs to be done and you get out before you catch something.

That's what I want from a neighborhood bar.

I never really was a big bar patron, but I don't like them now because I have difficulty hearing in noisy environments. In a non noisy environment, I hear just fine, doesn't have to be whisper quiet, just a low din vs. really noisy with music, people shouting, laughing, etc.

Then again, even when I did like to do happy hour, we always frequented the places that offered free food and discounted drinks. Mexican restaurants with bars used to do that in this area. For the price of one or two beers, I ate, socialized, and the people who stayed to continue to pound drinks made the whole thing profitable for the restaurants/bars.

I don't know if that's even still a thing these days.

Every 5 taps goes to the same keg, customers are too dumb to recognize. They'll taste what they want to imagine.

:cert: Haha, been in plenty of them back in the day in Rochester. Drug addicts, Hell's Angels, Mafia, ne'er-do-wells, the whole works.

Nothing remotely close to that now out in the boonies, but it was fun at the time. :hurray:

How to choose? Easy. Start at one end and slowly work your way around. In my earlier days there was a local pub which offered 112 labels... and myself and a bud eventually tried them all. The pub issued a discount card and wall photo for the "100% Club" members.

When I was younger and spent WAY too much time as a civilian "sandcrab" with Marines in bars outside military bases, the music, dancing, hoochie mommas and occasional fist fight were just fine with me. But now, gimme a quiet spot out of the limelight to chug down my booze, maybe, MAYBE some Sinatra or Bennet crooning in the background. And, I'll take the waitress with a few miles on her that nobody is ogling and tip her generously.

And when I've reached my limit I'll hit the men's room a little tipsy before leaving and grasp my left thumb in my right hand and piss in my pants.

The bar I drank at in high school had no draught, limited bottom-shelf liquor, barmaid was 50+, and pissing in the parking lot was encouraged.
Jukebox sucked, it took more than it gave.

Damn straight. A pump sprayer with detergent to soap it all down, then a hot hose from the top of the wall down into the floor drains.

They even has stainless steel grates under the urinals to catch the old man slob drips. :seasix:

Each table has a wireless pad to tune into the channel of your choice. Or not. The same pad is used to pay your bill, or games to distract your kiddies.

All those taps get confusing, keep it simple, with either of these, must be served at 32, or colder:

I frequent three bars in nice restaurants. No reason to look for trouble in local bars at my age. Friendly young barmaids add to the enjoyment of good food and drinks. I don’t like to cook so it’s become a way of life eating out almost daily when I’m not mooching at friends house.

Cheers!
