College HOF and NFL HOF. :yesnod: An alumni paid the rent for Reggie Bush's parents 100 miles away in San Diego. They had nothing on Pete Carroll. A Head coach that works 16 hours a day can't know what 100 players and their families are doing. That's why nothing happened to him and the NCAA gave them one of the worst penalties than most schools got that did a lot worse. Lost 30 scholarships, a Heisman, and a National Championship. When fOSU player's were cheating and the head coach knew what was going on and got shit. The East Coast Committee had it in for Pete and that's a fact. Many colleges have done worse and didn't get close the penalties that USC got for that.

Then why did Carroll tuck and run if they didn't do "nuffin"?

Exactly ...His players love him....The fans love him...no matter where he is. Name another coach in history running around at practice throwing passes to receivers at 72....The guy is full of life and can chew some damn gum. :yesnod:

He didn't do nothing. Did he pay rent for the home 100 miles away, no. Did he get charged for that, no. An alumni paid it like they have been doing since the Knute Rockne days. Because he got offered a lot more money for the pro's and accomplished enough at USC
Carroll returned to the NFL after spending nine years (2001-09) as head coach at USC, where he won seven consecutive Pac-10 titles (2002-08), two national championships (2003-04) lost the Championship in 2005 and led the Trojans to a 97-19 record. He reached a bowl in each of his nine seasons and won seven. Accomplished all he wanted in college. If he wanted to go back and coach in college numerous teams would hire him. But being 72 years old he's probably done.
His overall regular-season record in the pro's 170-120-1.

The whole state of Alabama is in morning. Their God has left them and all the 5 star recruits will go somewhere else. Must suck to live in a state that has NO professional teams.

+1 for mentioning Knute.
Pete Carroll may be the best overall coach, by combined numbers, ever. Saban couldn't do pro, and I'm assuming Belichek can't successfully do college.
He, Belichek and Saban are in the boomer HOF by far. I'm pretty sure that someone in the future will look back at Pete and wonder how he had such success at all levels.
Watching all of these guys on the sideline this year, Nick looked a bit tired, especially after a yuge win for the SEC title. Bill looks like your dad after he came home from managing the local bank branch. Pete looked alive.
I think Nick is done.
Bill wants to go out a winner. He's got a chip on his shoulder winning without Brady. Kraft left him plenty of runway to go achieve that. He's got 3-5 years and can probably look for a team that fits his style. He is not going anywhere without an offensive line and talent for a championship.
Pete has always been a west coast personality, so I have no idea. If he is good with slowing down and filling a different role, or not. I can't imagine being told that he would lose a ton of responsibility and stay.

So it's only the Peteophiles and Pete himself who are honest and in possession of the facts. Gotcha.

Pete had some great achievements.
Some may remember Jimmy BOOTSTOMPING the irish 58-7.
He caught hell in the after presser, was asked why he ran up score even though I believed he played his second and third teams in the 4th.
Jimmy, being Jimmy, fired back at the idiot reporters, 'You should be more concerned with their team giving up.'
Back then no NIL, no Portal, it was still football.

Pete would be a good fit anywhere, and if I were he, I would take SoCal weather over any other NFL job.
If he takes, he will have to do a gut job with the coaching staff, I think many of his guys in Seattle would follow.
I have always preferred taking a prove HC, over a younger coordinator who is believed to be ready for the big job--this is how fins got screwed repeatedly, and it is happening again.
I would take Pete down here in a heartbeat!!

Pete is from California, and he coached USC about 10 miles up the road from SoFi. Fans in L.A love him. The Chargers have a great young QB to build on
