I'm catching up with all the back episodes and despite their obvious hatred of anything American, I really dig the show. But the one thing that I'm skeptical about are the races, the ones where Jeremy drives some outrageous supercar while Richard and James takes a plane or train or something. I don't doubt they could actually race the way they claim, but I am suspicious that with Jeremy driving at hypercar speeds how does the camera crew keep up?
Thoughts?

It's a bunch of guys with cars..... while they dish out advice and show off some cars it's still TV..... it has to be entertaining. I have to admit Hammond isn't bad to look at either.:leaving:

You can't outrun an in-car camera no matter how fast you go.

I think you miss the point. They're always showing Jeremy driving from fixed locations or as he passes the camera vehicle.

Jeremy doesn't go that fast in those races. I've never seen him really caning anything, except on the Autobahn and even there they were obviously using camera cars that could maintain decent motorway speeds above 100mph.

Easily achieved with a few crews and using cars with better fuel mileage than whatever Jezza is in, allowing one or more crews to leapfrog Jezza when he stops for fuel.

I think you missed my sarcasm.

Remember, my sarcasm is so subtle that people often mistake it for ignorance, that's the beauty of it.

Top Gear is one of my fav shows.

Some of the camera work is the best I've seen for a car show.

And I agree the American version is bad. Don't think the hosts have the same chemistry as the guys across the pond.

I watched about 5 minutes and turned the channel.

I love the BBC version. The 3 wheeled Renault was hysterical.:rofl:

The three goofs that host that show have zero personality, they're not funny in the least, they know jack about cars (Tanner can drift) and they try extremely hard to make the show like the BBC version which is impossible, it's like the Canadian version of American Idol.

The worst thing about Top Gear USA?

One can no longer have a conversation about Top Gear at all without it becoming a list of people who think the US version sucks.
