Mine was the best thing that ever happened to me health wise. Hope she has the same experience. Thanks!

Good luck, and her rehab coordinator I wish you luck too!!
Knew a dood, real PITA, had knee replaced, his wife almost divorced him, as he was a wussy with the rehab, always complaining, took twice as long.

Yup, you gotta do the work. I was out of rehab in 5 weeks, pretty sure she will struggle with it a bit.
Best of luck to your wife for a speedy recovery. My wife's best friend had BOTH of her knees replaced about 3 weeks ago. She was in a lot of pain for 2 days and she's now up and walking around pain free. She's 60 years old and in relatively good health.

Good luck to her.
My late father had both of his knees (arthritis) replaced in the early-mid 1980s. He was as happy as a kid on Christmas day.
Recovery was pretty grueling back then as I recall. I'm assuming the surgery has advanced quite a lot and is less intrusive, making recovery easier.

Same dood, two years later had the other knee replaced.
His wife made him agree to go from the hospital to an in-patient rehab facility, where he stayed 30 days.
My m-i-l had one at age 72, it was not easy on the family!!

My wife had her right knee done last year and is fine. Unfortunately it looks like the left one will probably need to get done this year

Had my right knee replaced Nov 2021. First few months is rough. I still can't bend in back as far as my other knee and it still gets stiff if it's in the same position for any period of time. But I can't complain.
A year later I tore the meniscus in the other knee.

If she'd stop kicking you all the time, she wouldn't need a new knee.
j/k
Best wishes to you both.

I'm sure everything will work out just fine. Pretty routine surgery these days. Hopefully she'll be up and about in time for Christmas.

If she can keep the swelling down by keeping it iced, the pain will be greatly reduced :yesnod:
I hope everything turns out well for the Mrs

Wife had it done 5 years ago and regrets not doing it sooner, she was so bad at one point she could barely push a shopping cart around - the only downside is going through metal detectors. I think you can get a medical card issued describing the repair that you can show to authorities.

They make some gel packs that you put in the freezer and they stay pliable enough to shape them around what you want iced. Very handy.

How is she doing ?
Really well, thanks for asking. She was able to walk up the stairs to the bedroom without issues when she got home and got a pretty good night's sleep. So far so good.

Mine was the best thing I ever did for sure. I have a medical card for airports but the end result is the same. Get pulled from the line and patted down and scanned.

When I got my left knee reconstructed ( patella graft for torn ACL) I had a cool pac that recirculated ice water over my knee. Series of tubing that the ice water was pumped thru from an Igloo cooler that worked perfectly.
No swelling equaled no pain.
Most important thing is to take the pain meds to stay ahead of the pain so you can do the physical therapy. Dont do like I did. I hate taking any meds, pain or other wise. I could not do the therapy like I should and had to go back in and have my knee forceably bent to break the scar tissure. Not a fun event! Take the pain meds, do the therapy!! Cant stress that enough! :yesnod: :seasix:

:iagree:
Pain meds are a tool. Use only as prescribed and realize you only use them for "X" amount of time. They are a TOOL , not a crutch
