Of living in the Denver area, notably Evergreen or Golden. How about Idaho? If a conservative wanted to move someplace that isn't excessively hot and humid, where would you recommend? Too many tornadoes in the plains. Too much snow and cold in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan.

I am told Utah is nice, it will stay red for the next 100+ years, Jon seems to like it a lot.

I grew up in Denver, avoid Evergreen, look at Golden or Loveland. Idaho is full of nuts and flakes that moved in from California.

Consider somewhere like SLC, Park City or Logan Utah. :seasix:

I too grew up in the Denver area. It’s now a huge, liberal megalopolis with all the problems that come with it. Colorado used to be red but it took a hard left turn several years ago. We left because of that, along with high taxes and we got tired of winter. We moved to Florida with much lower taxes and it’s overwhelmingly red.

Our daughter and family live in Boise. It used to be nice but hoards of people fleeing California are moving there, which won’t end well for Idaho.

Yup, my son and family live in Boise also and I had 11 stores in Idaho so spent a lot of time there. Other than destroying the housing market, the CA refugees have caused a major shift in politics.

Also, Heritage High School class of 76.

Utah is run by mormons ie a pedophile cult. Salt Lake city has crime infested ghettos. Look up the statistics etc.
Idaho is great just stay away from anywhere near the Boise beltway, again overrun by mormons attempting to corrupt the legislative process (think RINO Mitt Romni). Certain towns east of Boise are infested with meth and related drug crimes. It's hit or miss.

N Idaho is growing way to fast and WA state politics are causing crime to bleed over across statelines. County "active warrants" web links speaks volumes as to the numbers of out-of-state criminals crossing-over to reoffend.
Anywhere north of McCall and south of Kootenai county is ideal if you enjoy the outdoors and freedom, low cost of living, minimum dmv fees etc.
Montana is good, cheap, no sales tax and the most car friendly state on the planet. ZERO sales tax on vehicle purchases and dmv fees are 0-5yr old vehicles =$200. 5-10yr =$81. 10+ yo vehicle =$22. Utilities are almost nothing comparatively. We just purchased a home in Gallatin county. The most white place I've ever seen. Bozeman has plenty of excellent restaurants and MT State is nearby. Yosemite 1.5hr. Skiing: Bridger 30min Big sky 55min. Jackson hole 5hrs. Park City 6hrs.
Both ID and MT have the most amazing scenery bar none along with world class game fishing, hunting etc.

I would choose AZ, personally. CO is too liberal and ID and MT are too cold for my liking. They are beautiful, though. CO USED to be a choice prior to about 2010.

Unless you have to live near Denver, don't. Western CO is where you want to be if it's CO. Plus, the weather is much warmer there.

Look at southern Utah. St George is just a couple hours from Vegas, and Mesquite is closer if you need good liquor. You could find yourself a few wives and settle down.

In case you care, these states do not have a state income tax:
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Depending on your situation, this can make a big difference compared with other states. Texas real estate taxes are kind of out of control, FWIW. Not sure about the other states listed. I've been hearing that property insurance has gone crazy in Florida to the point that it might not be desireable, but I may have heard wrong. New Hampshire used to be kind of conservative, but probably not so much anymore. Washington's urban areas are notoriously liberal but the rest of the state is pretty conservative. Ditto for Nevada. A lot of people seem to like Tennessee.

Curious, what is wrong with Evergreen? Too many bears and mountain lions?

Things are changing here also. I pay no attention to politics so I can’t comment on that.
In the 25 years I have lived in central AZ. My local weather has changed with higher summer temps. 25 years ago a hot summer day was in the low to mid 90s the last few years it has been over 100+.
Lots of Cal. money these days and saturated with Air B&Bs have made renting a home for a 1 year lease few and far between. I pad $136k for my 1434 SF house 10 years ago which is now worth $350k. However prices have softened a bit lately. Prices are much higher in Phoenix and Flagstaff areas. Prices are about the same east of me around Payson to Pinetop but too cold and snow there for me.
I have no desire or intentions of moving anywhere different and don’t know where it would be.

Yup. I remember when there was nothing but farms between Denver, Longmont, Loveland and Ft. Collins. Now it’s one giant sprawling city from south of Denver to Ft. Collins with horrible traffic.

We just voted on lowering property taxes that was really a poor concealment of an attack on TABOR, which is CO's answer to prop13 in CA. Out of 64 counties in CO, only 2 voted "yes"; Denver and Boulder. Boulder is full of socialist professors and nut eaters. Denver's population would enjoy it greatly if the rest of the state chipped in to fix that dump.

The only thing that saves Golden is Coors. Folks bought up there when property was cheap to be close to work, and have been there ever since. It's still a place with a non-union worker feel.

I agree, just avoid Durango or Telluride. Personally I would look at Meeker/Glenwood/Rifle/Grand Junction areas.

Evergreen and Conifer are just extensions of Denver, that's where anyone with money went.

Durango isn’t bad. Telluride is too isolated and stupid expensive. Palisade just east of Grand Junction is pretty nice too.

yup. have driven I-25 many times between Santa Fe and Cheyenne. nothing but suburban sprawl from colorado springs up to fort collins. ugh.

one reason we picked Santa Fe, not too big. but now kinda pricey. we got here before prices got too much outside our reach.

SLC proper is going downhill/has gone downhill fast. Mendenhall is a terrible mayor and I’m so glad I don’t live there. Park City is hella pricy and also pretty liberal now. Logan is great if you like a small town feel, buts its growing fast.

Your perception of Mormons is kinda hilarious but is off. Most are actually conservative. Not RINOs, like Mittens. They also aren’t pedophiles. I guess if you’re counting the FLDS group with them but they aren’t actually recognized by the LDS church.
